The Heards are in Mexico!
After almost 10 years in Venezuela, we have now relocated to Chihuahua, Mexico.
In 1997, we moved to Venezuela. After studying Spanish for a year or so, we began survey work among the Warao Indians. In 1999, we moved to a small village and began language and culture study. Due to the political situation, we were forced to abandon our ministry and after much prayer and consideration, our family has started over in Mexico. We are currently refreshing our skills in Spanish and seeking the Lord's direction for our future ministry.
Chihuahua is located in northern Mexico. It is a dry climate with extreme weather. Very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer! We arrived in December, 2006. This is quite a change from the humid climate of Venezuela and year-round heat. Mexico is a country full of various Indian groups who still wear native dress and live very much like their ancestors, though in many places, there is a blending of cultures and customs.

A dental clinic among the Southern Tepehuan people this week gave missionaries another opportunity to minister to the people. "These dental clinics are a big reason why the people are willing to have us live in their village," wrote Barry and Candy Wingo. Please pray that serving the people in this physical way will build relationships and open doors to meeting their spiritual needs. |
