Tina asked us to help her move to Washington State, so we did mid-September. The trip was interesting and a lot different than we had planned…but we do have MANY new memories!
She planned the whole trip, via a stop in Colorado, on her new GPS! But…she hadn’t had enough experience to know certain things to nNOT have on her route plan…like ‘walking’ instead of ‘driving’ or ‘not using toll roads’. What should have taken five hours on our first leg ended up eight. And what should have taken twelve hours from Missouri to Colorado on the second leg, took us (with a unplanned night in a motel!) more than twenty-four hours! The final leg was a twenty-eight straight hour drive from ‘the middle of no-where Colorado" to Port Angeles, WA. It was GREAT to see Jeremy and get out of Tina’s little Ford Focus!!
We were able to spend a week there with Tina and Jeremy, staying with wonderful friends in Sequim. It was hard to leave them and the beautiful NorthWest to fly back to Michigan. We are so thankful for a safe – though tough – memorial trip!

We left Jackson June 1 and were able to travel back to the beautiful Northwest this summer. We were thrilled to speak in eight churches, many small groups and visit with numerous friends along the way. We also got a chance to catch up with some family in Chicago, Spokane, LaCenter, Weiser and Boise. We loved being able to share about New Tribes Bible Institute with so many. What a great opportunity to let people know about our wonderful college. Where else can you study the total Bible in two years in such a super atmosphere and for such a good price? We are excited for the 185 students attending Jackson this year.
We are so thankful for the people who opened their homes to us and for the many who made time for us to see them. What a blessing each were. We also very much enjoyed visiting with many pastors and those on mission commissions.
The Lord abundantly supplied for our every need. A few special needs arose while traveling and He took care of those, too!
We truly were blessed by our two months of traveling. It is good to be home (and out of a suitcase) and we are looking forward to what the Lord has for us in the coming months.
Thanks for your prayers.

My ten days in Guatemala, with HELPS International, was a wonderful experience. My days started at 6:00am sterilizing the surgical equipment for the two doctors. One day, I worked from 6am to 3am the next morning, as a surgery went a lot longer than expected. When I wasn’t sterilizing, I would help in the ultrasound area and the OR. We had some great translators (several were MK kids that volunteered their time) to help us figure out the medical problem with each patient. I really enjoyed the one-on-one with the patients.
We had over 40 volunteers on our team and I loved getting to know them all. The ages ranged from 16 to 73! It was hard to say goodbye!
After this experience, I was challenged again for the need to go to a foreign country and help out medically. As you treat them, you have such an opportunity to share Christ’s love, too.
Thank you for praying for me.

Warren and Lyn Sears have been with New Tribes Mission since 1985. They attended the Mission Institute in Baker City, Oregon and also the Language Institute in Camdenton, MO before heading to Papua New Guinea in 1986. They served in the Sepik Region from 1986 until 1994, then moved to Goroka and served at Numonohi until 2001. They relocated to Jackson, MI in 2002 to minister at the Bible school.
"We are excited to be involved in this STEP of the training. It is just one vital step in the process of our NTM team goal – that is planting tribal churches around the world."
