Walter and Cheryl Spicer

Educating the children of missionaries

About

PREPARATION

Walter and Cheryl attended Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO.

Cheryl graduated with a double major in Bible and Missionary Nursing, being a licensed RN.

Walter graduated with a double major in Bible and Secondary Education with endorsements in Bible and mathematics, certified by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). He also took some graduate hours on learning disabilities and is a certified therapist through the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD)

While in Bible college, God challenged Walter and Cheryl to become missionaries, specifically to teach at an MK (missionary kid) school. Cheryl had the privilege of being an MK and growing up in the Philippines. In August 1987, Walter and Cheryl enrolled in New Tribes Missions Institute in Wisconsin for a year and then their Language School in Camdenton, MO for a half a year. They began raising their support in January 1989, and by the 4th of July they were flying to the Philippines.

MINISTRY

The Spicer’s have spent sixteen years in the Philippines, teaching MK’s. Walter is an NILD therapist, teaching children with learning disabilities. Their ministry allows parents with children who have special educational needs to stay on the mission field. Otherwise, those parents would have to return to their home country to have their children’s needs met. They are presently on home assignment in the US but plan to return to the Philippines in July 2009 where Walter will resumed teaching at Faith Academy.
