Our Growing Boys

Swimming in the backyard!

Being parents is a joy!  We just love it…and we love our boys!  (I’m sure you feel the same about your kids if you have some!!)  We like to play with them, we like to watch them play, we like to watch them sleep, we like to teach them new things, we like to see them smile and hear them laugh!

One great thing about being a missionary is that we’ll get to be with our boys!  Sure, we’ll be plenty busy, but Renee has the privilege of homeschooling them and they’ll be able to accompany Travis as he builds, visits, or teaches!  We’re excited about this because this is how discipleship happens!

 “I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Psalm 34:1

We’ve been enjoying this verse recently. There are so many reasons to praise the Lord… and the spring season is definitely one of those reasons!

Another reason for us (personally) to praise Him is our past trip to Virginia, Washington DC and Pennsylvania!

Canaan and Isaiah`s 1st snowman!

Happy Winter!!!
(That is how most of you feel about winter, right?!!)

Family Update
We are well settled into the same Ohio farmhouse that we stayed in this past summer!  That was a huge blessing!  Travis has been helping out by feeding the cows that live in the barn here!

We recently received 13 inches of snow!!  It went up to the boys’ knees!  Below, Isaiah is measuring it and Canaan is climbing through his snow tunnell!
How much snow do you have?

Missionary Training Center<br />Class of 2008

We did it!  On December 19, we, along with 95 other sudents, graduated from New Tribes’ Missionary Training Center!!  We spent a year and a half with this class, growing close to many of them, and now we are heading out to the far corners of the USA and eventually around the world!   Some of our good friends will be in Brazil, Papua New Guinea, and Cambodia!!   Bitter Sweet!

We are so thankful for the other families that the Lord is leading to Paraguay and look forward to serving with them (see below)!!

3 Families and 2 Singles gals from our class are also heading to Paraguay!

Kids Say the Cutest Things!

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Just this past week, we were all hit with the stomach flu – YUCK!!  Isaiah’s tummy was hurting so bad one night that I went upstairs to rock him.  I had already tried a couple remedies but they were not working.  As he was crying, I felt so helpless and said, “Isaiah how can I help you?  I don’t know what to do!”  Isaiah replied, “I don’t know either.”  Then Canaan, lying in his bed listening to our conversation, piped up and said, “I do, we can pray!”  And so we stopped right there and prayed!  I was so thankful for my child reminding me to take my problems to the Lord!

For some time now, Travis has been teaching the boys that our possessions belong to God.  We do this to prevent the mindset that things are ours and we can be selfish with them.

Earlier this week I was telling Isaiah to take his dirty clothes upstairs to the laundry basket so they weren’t lying all over the living room.  To this he replied, “Mom, they’re not mine, they are God’s.  God has to take them up!”

Just today at lunch, I was reading the boys a Christmas poem that my Grandma had written and sent.  Isaiah heard the word “poem” and his little mind started turning!!  “Mom, do a poem have legs?”

On the Road Again

Prayer Request:  We’re moving!  On December 20th we’ll be moving back to Ohio.  Goodbyes will be very tough this time.  Please pray for us as we transition and get used to the area and people again!  Isaiah has an especially hard time with moves.  Thank you!

Prayer Request Answered: We’re moved and doing great!  Isaiah had a smooth transition!  We do miss our neighbors and classmates but we’ve been able to see several of them because they drop by when they are traveling through Ohio!!

The campus is on the lake - it`s beautiful!

Hello Family and Friends!!

Did summer fly by or what?!!  The summer was a refreshing break for us! We were glad to be back in Ohio and able to spend time with some of you!

We are back in Missouri now and are ready to begin our last semester of missionary training!  Classes start Monday!  The boys have been super excited about “preschool” ever since we returned – that was a God thing!

Your encouragement and support are huge to us! We wouldn’t be here without you!
