Taking God's Good News to Paraguay, South America

Meet Our Language Helper!

This is "Inosi", our language helper!

Inosi is our new DOBU friend!

We meet with him 2 times a week.  He is teaching us how to speak Dobu.   He teaches us about his village and the way they live.

Actually, Inosi is one of our teachers in costume – but you’d never know it!!  The missionaries here are teaching us how to learn a new language through being with people, instead of sitting in an office memorizing!  And so far, after spending time with Inosi and trying out the things they have taught us, we are encouraged and believe that learning a second and third language will be doable!

For those of you interested in knowing more…

For the past 3 weeks, we have been learning that the best way for us to learn a language is to learn like our kids learned!

1. When babies are born they just lay there and listen!

2.Next, babies begin comprehending some of our basic words –but they can’t speak yet!

3. Around 1 year old, they begin speaking our lanugage!!

4. From then on they just perfect their speech and sentences by practicing!

So, when we arrive on the field, we will…

1. Just listen (mostly)!  Get to know the country and sounds of the language!

2. Begin comprehending some of the basic words – we will hire a language helper to teach us!

3. Begin speaking the language with our language helper.

4. Get out into the community and just start perfecting our speech and sentences!
