Dear Family & Friends,
The term, “busy,” does not even come close to describing what most of us do every day. It’s probably more like, “insane,” or “crazy.” Thanks be to God that we can stop the turn of the earth for a little while every day and read His Word. In my journey in reading through the Bible I’ve been impressed by the way God used people that were not perfect. I don’t think He ever used anyone that was perfect, except Jesus, to do what He wanted accomplished. He uses imperfect people to accomplish a perfect task. One comment that Jenn and I have made before is, “If God can use a talking donkey, then He can surely use you and me.”
Most of you know that we are still in Roach, Missouri (we like to say, CamdentonJ) at the site of the New Tribes Missionary Training Center. We are here helping those that are struggling to learn. Many of you know the term “learning disabilities.” We like to call it “learning difficulties,” or “learning differences.” In any case, we, and a few others, are helping people that can’t seem to grasp what is being taught – academically – without some help along the way. These people include staff and students, children and adults. We also try to accommodate any New Tribes missionaries that come through Missouri seeking help for their children or for themselves. We have been able to help quite a few individuals over the past two and a half years that we’ve been here. Some of the comments that we hear from people that have gone through the learning differences program are, “Huh, I’m not really dumb like I thought I was.” Or, “Oh, that’s why I think like that.” It is one of the neatest things to be there when someone finally gets the fact that God really did not make a mistake in creating any one of us. He made us all unique. He did not make us to be robots, to be all alike. Each one of us (Believers that is) plays an important part in the Body of Christ.
There are a few activities outside of our NTM ministries that we’ve taken on recently. Homeschooling has been an adventure for Jenn this year with Matthew and another little boy entering Kindergarten. Matthew has been learning all the beginning things that you do at that time in your life and it has been a real joy to see him progress in knowledge and wisdom. Each Wednesday evening Matthew has been involved in the AWANA program that takes place in one of the local churches. He has really gone after learning those verses and receiving the AWANA dollars for prizes later on. This is something that he has really enjoyed and we are very glad for him in that. Also, every other Wednesday evening Jenn spends about two hours with a group of ladies from the church that we attend in a Bible study. She has really been able to connect with several of the ladies in that group and really enjoys getting together with them. The men are looking forward to starting up a Bible study shortly. Both Jenn and I have really enjoyed getting to know several of the young families in the church.
We just recently returned from a very short but wonderful visit with family in the warm state of Florida. It had been a long time since we had gotten together for Christmas and my parents had not even met Nathan yet and he has been a part of our lives for over a year. Praise the Lord with us for His faithfulness in keeping us safe on the busy roads and for giving us a dependable car to ride in as well.
Please be in prayer with us as we seek to finalize our youngest son’s (Nathan) adoption. We would like to see this completed soon. He is almost two and talking up a storm. He loves to learn, take things apart and overall be pretty cute! Thank the Lord with us for the blessing He has given us in giving us our two boys.
We are now on Facebook as part of the New Tribes Network. We have some recent pictures of us and the boys. Come and check it out.
We are hoping each and every one of you had a Blessed Christmas Season.
Love, Tim, Jenn and the boys
