En Route to Indonesia

The Awayo Story

Posted in Indonesia on Oct 6th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

This is an amazing new video of the true story of Awayo.  Awayo is a Moi man who lives in one of the remotest parts of the world.  This story was particularly of interest to us because it takes place in Indonesia, which is where we are heading.  Enjoy and let me know what you think.

This is one of the best illustrationof the spiritual darkness that thousands of people groups live in everyday all around the world.  Fear is the chief word in a animistic (tribal) context.  They live in fear of offending the spirits, fear of darkness, fear of death, fear of neighbouringclans, fear of sickness caused by the spirits, fear of eating the wrong food because it would offend the spirits, etc.  Every part of life is entangled with the spirit world.  How awesome to think that  just in last few years for the first time in the history of the Moi people that the gospel and the truth of who our Creator is has set free and continues to set free many among Moi of Papua Indonesia!!!

Indonesia Earthquake

Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 5th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

I don’t know if you guys have been following the new but there was a huge earthquake in Indonesia off the island of Sumatra.  The 7.6 quake struck on Sept. 30th about 30 miles from Padang, which is the capital of West Sumatra, Indonesia.  It is estimated that close to 1,100 are dead and over 2,000 were injured.  Thousand are now homeless.  Some of those that are now dead or injured or now find themselves homeless were our bothers and sisters in Christ, but with the population of Indonesia being about 2.4 million and only about 6% of them believers, we know that many more were not.  Please join us in praying that God would use this tragedy to glorify His Name and bring those who do not yet knew Him to Himself.  Prayespecially for our brethren.

Emma’s Birthday Cupcake

Posted in Family on Sep 29th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

It’s hard to believe, but on September 2nd our little girl Emma turned one!!!  She had already been walking for the past 3 months, so the big mile stone for her first birthday was her first cupcake.   Emma wasn’t sure at first, I think all the artificialcolors were a bit intimidating, but she caught on pretty quickly, and spared no crumbs (well, except for the ones smeared all over her outfit!).  Noah and their cousin Taylor were able to join in the celebration too with a cupcake of their own.

It has been exciting for us to watch our little ones grow up.  The Lord continues to teach us through the loving attitudes, forgiving spirits, and flexibleness of our children.  What a gift from God!
