reach into the darkness

Dear Friends and Co-workers,                                              SEPTEMBER 2009FLAG-MAP OF PARAGUAY

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” Ephesians 3:20

We hope this letter finds you rejoicing in God’s love and tender care! Thank you very much for your prayers and support. The work is going well.

As we look back over the past few months, we are so thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness in our lives, even in the hard times! “for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever!”

We Praise God for His continual protection as we go back and forth between the town where we live and the Indian Colony to teach God’s Word.

We are thankful that Samuel and Stefany had a safe trip to the U.S.A. and were able to spend time with Rachael and Samantha and the babies before Stefany went to the Bible Inst.

We have had quite the Winter this year in Paraguay, with extremely cold weather which suddenly changes to extremely hot overnight. There has been a lot of sickness in the country this year with a lot of emphasis on the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu). Several of our children’s classmates have come down with it, but so far our family has escaped that particular flu.

Nathan and mask (Small)

Please Pray for us to have wisdom as we teach the Ava Paî People God’s Word and that many more will come to know the Lord as their personal Savior.

Tracy continues to translate children’s Bible studies from English to the Guarani language and teach Sunday School out at the Indian Colony! Loli, a young Tribal lady helps her to teach the children.  Please Pray for the Salvation of several of the children!

The Tribal believers ask for Prayer for their marriages and families. Recently two couples from here attended a Believers ‘conference at another Indian Colony hosted by New Tribes missionaries there and came back excited and encouraged in The Lord.

We would also like to ask that you please Pray especially for Justino and Mamila, faithful Tribal believers from the Indian Colony where we are working. Justino’s 28 year old son, Andres from a former marriage was murdered here in the small town where we live. Andres was an alcoholic and drug addict and has been roaming the streets for about a year now. Last week was the burial out at the Indian Colony. It was the saddest burial that we have ever attended. Please Pray for Justino and the rest of the family. It is hard to know how to comfort them in this situation.

Thank you for Praying for the Tribal boys. They have finished the “initiation into manhood” ceremonies at the Indian Colony. So now the 12-14 year old boys have their lower lips pierced. Please Pray that they will all heal without any infection.

Young Tribal boys

Please Pray for the Saturday ladies meetings, wisdom for Tracy as she teaches them. Mamila, one of the ladies from the Indian Colony continues to help her with the teaching too.

Please Pray for us, as we have a time of home assignment (furlough) in the U.S.A. coming up the first of next year 2010… One of our reasons that we have decided to take a furlough, is for Samuel to get his green card. Basically a green card is an immigration visa. What Samuel has right now is a tourist visa which is very limited. Secondly, we feel that it would benefit our two remaining children to attend an English school for a year, so that it isn’t such a drastic adjustment for them when they go back to the States as adults. Also with the economy in the U.S.A. the way it is right now, some of our supporters have let us know that they will have to drop us this year, so we feel that it would be a good time to touch base with our supporters and co-workers there. We will be putting in the petition for a green card for Samuel at the American Embassy here in Asuncion, Paraguay next week. We would then finish the process upon arrival in the U.S.A.

We are excited and Praising God as we see the fruit of our labors! We have several new Tribal Believers and are planning a baptism for sometime soon.

Please continue to Pray for the Church here at the Indian Colony. There is a group of Believers who are faithful in spite of persecution from some of the chiefs.

Thank you for your help and Prayers! We also remember you in our Prayers.

Thank you for being a part of this team, as together; we are involved in taking the Gospel to Tribal People.

Samuel teaching...

Dear Friends,                                       JUNE 2009
We hope this letter finds you rejoicing in the many blessings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Isn’t it wonderful to know that God is in control of the drama of our lives!?!

We want to share with you what has been happening in our lives and work here in Paraguay as we teach God’s Word to the Pai Tavyterã Tribal People.
We Praise God that the Believers are maturing Spiritually and the Church is growing.

Please Pray especially for the Tribal children as Winter sets in here.  They always suffer the most in the cold weather.
Also please Pray that the sun will shine on Sunday morning for the children’s Sunday school since I teach them outside in the open and many of them come in short sleeves even when it’s cold because they don’t own warm clothes. They are used to sitting by a fire for warmth.

Pray for us as we make trips back and forth between the town where we live and the Indian Colony, for safety and good running vehicle in spite of the rough road conditions.

Please Continue to pray for the Bible classes among the Tribal men and women.
Pray that we will have wisdom to be able to teach clearly so that the People will understand and apply it to their own lives.
We are excited that there are several new believers and planning a baptism for sometime in September.

Please Pray too for us to have wisdom in caring for and hosting the New Tribes Mission Guest House along with our other responsibilities.

Samuel will be taking Stefany back to the States for her to attend the New Tribes Mission Bible school.  He and Stefany will fly out of Asuncion on July 16th and he will take Stefany to
Wisconsin the first part of August.
Please Pray that Stefany will find a job quickly there in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Also for Stefany as it will be quite an adjustment for her to study in English since she did most of her grade school and all of high school in Spanish.

We are Praising the Lord that Samuel now has a sponsor for his green card (immigrant visa). Please continue to Pray for the process to go smoothly. We will be petitioning for it at the American Embassy as soon as he returns from the U.S.A. in August. Right now Samuel only has a ten year tourist visa which is very limited.

Reaching tribal people for Christ requires a large team of Christians each working together in the ministry that God has given them.
We are so thankful for those working at the Bible and missionary training schools who taught and prepared us many years ago for our ministry.
The missionaries in remote places of the world depend on the support team
back at the N.T.M. home office in Sanford, Florida to keep things running smoothly so that they can focus on their tribal ministry. You are also an important part of this team, as together; we are involved in taking the Gospel to Tribal People.
We are thankful to God for each of you who faithfully supports and prays for us.
“For we are laborers together with God.” 1 Cor. 3:9

Thank you for being our co-workers!

REACH INTO THE DARKNESS WITH THE LIGHT OF CHRISTI will lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:12

Dear Friends and Co-Workers            APRIL 2009

Greetings from the Recaldes here in Paraguay.

First of all, we want to thank you very much for your faithfullness in Praying for us and supporting us financially! Thank you for being our co-workers!

We Praise God for his mercy and grace in our lives and for his faithfullness! We are thankful for the Lord\’s protection and provision of strength as we travel back and forth to the Indian Colony to teach His Word! Please continue to Pray for the Pai Tavyterã Tribal Believers, to remain faithful and to continue to grow in their walk with the Lord, for the Indian church as they grow together, especially for those who are struggling with alcoholism, and that many more will get saved.

Please Pray for Samuel for continued safety and endurance as he makes trips out to Indian Colony alone during the week to teach Bible and literacy classes and to visit the Tribal People. Please Pray that our truck will hold up in spite of the rough road conditions. Lately, it has broken down several times and we had to have work done on the motor.

Please Pray for Emilio, that he will continue to attend the Bible classes and meetings and will continue to mature Spiritually and for Mamila as she co-teaches the ladies Bible classes with Tracy.

Please Pray for Tracy, for wisdom and patience, as she works on translation from English to Guarani and also for her Sunday school class with the Tribal children. Mirta, one of the young Tribal girls has begun helping by playing her guitar for the Sunday school children to sing.

We continue to host the New Tribes Mission guest house here. It is where our coworkers who live interior stay for a night or two when they come to town for supplies and mail etc. It is beside our house, separated by a gate in between. Please Pray for us to have wisdom as we see how we can make the guest house more secure as lately thieves have been going into the yard. They seem to know which days we go out to the Indian Colony and take advantage of those times to come over the wall to steal things. Thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us!

We are pleased to inform you that our daughter, Stefany Danelle has been accepted at the New Tribes Mission Bible School in Waukesha, Wisconsin and will start in August for the Fall semester!!

In Christ’s Service, Samuel, Tracy & Family

Church

Dear Friends,

ISAIAH 40:31
Greetings from the Recalde family in Paraguay, the heart of South America.
We hope this letter finds you all well and rejoicing in the Lord because of his faithfullness and his many blessings!

First of all We want to thank you very much for your faithfulness in Praying for us and supporting us through the exciting times when we see much fruit of our labors and also through the discouraging times when it seem as though nothing is happening! We thank God for you, our co-workers!

We praise God for the work that he is doing in hearts and lives out at the Indian Colony! Attendance to the Bible classes and Church has increased greatly in the past few months and the Tribal children who attend Sunday school continue to increase in number. Please continue to Pray for Tracy, as she must translate the Sunday school lessons from English to the Guaraní language each week in order to teach the children.

The Tribal People continue to struggle against alcoholism, but we are encouraged that many of them admit that they have a problem. Please Pray for us to have wisdom from God in how to counsel and help them.

Saturday ladies meeting started up again in January with Mamila again helping Tracy to teach. Samuel also started  Prayer meeting with the Tribal men on Saturday mornings at the same time as the ladies meeting. This way, the married couples can come together and the ladies don\’t have to walk the trails alone to get to the Bible class.

We Praise The Lord for Emilio\’s repentance and return to the Church. He continues to faithfully attend the Bible classes and meetings. His wife, Kita, has also begun attending Church and ladies meeting again.

We also ask that you please Pray for our daughter, Stefany, as she has decided that she would like to attend the New Tribes Mission Bible school and is shooting for August so we are helping her to get the different forms all filled out, letters of recommendation, Dr. report, etc. Please Pray for Stefany, as this is a bit scary for her, since she went to the Spanish school most of her life and although English is her first language, reading and writing in English is hard for her. Also she has never lived in the U.S.A. for more than a few months during furlough times. She continues to work at the computer and electronics supplies store here until she goes and is saving as much as possible towards her plane ticket, Bible school registration and initial down payment etc.

Pray continue to Pray for us, for health, safety and encouragement as we seek to faithfully carry out the responsibilities that God has given us.

Please continue to Pray for more laborers for the work here in Paraguay. There are still many who have not heard and much that still needs to be done! Thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us in our work here amongst the Pai Tavytera Tribal People!

Dear Friends, CHRISTMAS 2008

In our last letter, we asked you to Pray as Tracy flew back to the U.S.A. to be with Rachael for the birth of our grandchild. Thank you for Praying! Chance Christopher was born on October 29th weighing 7 lbs 12 oz. Tracy had a good trip and was there for one month, getting to spend quality time with our two daughters, Rachael and Samantha and giving lots of hugs and kisses to our two little grandsons. my-grandsons

Please continue to Pray for us, for health, safety and encouragement as we seek to faithfully carry out the responsibilities that God has given us. It\’s hard to believe that another year is ending already and We Praise God for the continuing progress. As most of you know, we returned to Paraguay in March after a short three months in the U.S.A. . We sure enjoyed getting to visit many of you and are sorry that due to the icy roads and limited time, we didn\’t get to see everyone.

After returning, we decided to continue focusing mainly on the Indian Colony where we had been working last term, as the Church had struggled quite a bit in our absence and are not quite ready to function on their own. We continue without co-workers for now, but God is faithful. Please Pray for the Tribal People, as they hear the Gospel, that their hearts would be open to the Truth and for us to have wisdom as we teach them about the one True God.
Please continue to Pray for the Lord\’s care over us health wise and for safety on the road as we constantly travel back and forth between the small town where we live and the Indian Colony where we are teaching literacy and Bible classes.

24-09-08_0925 Pray for Samuel especially as he also makes many trips alone out to the Colony to work.

Pray for Tracy as she works on translating Sunday school lessons for the Tribal children;Tracy's Sunday School class for guidance in producing lessons which are clear and simple. Pray also for her, for wisdom and patience in teaching the ladies Bible class and children Sunday school.

Thank you again for your help and Prayers!

Tracy, will fly out of Asuncion on the 20th of October and will be there in Chicago with our daughter for one month, returning back here to Paraguay the 20th of November. Please Pray for Samuel as he holds down the fort here in Paraguay and for safety as he goes out to teach at the Indian Colony alone while Tracy is away and for God\’s provision!!

AUGUST 2008

Dear Friends,

1 John 5:14-15

Greetings from the Recaldes here in Paraguay.  Once again it is time to “catch you up” on what is happening and what we have been doing in the last couple of months.

First of all, we want to thank you very much for being our co-workers and Prayer-partners! Thank you for your sacrificial giving and Prayers so that we can be here! We praise God for the daily strength that he gives to us and for His faithfulness! We are so thankful that we have had such a mild Winter so far this year!

Please continue to Pray for the Church out at the Indian Colony. Satan is constantly at work and many of the tribal People continue to struggle with alcoholism. Pray that God would give us wisdom and insight in knowing how to help them. Please Pray for the Believers, that they will grow in The Lord and for the Salvation of those who have not understood yet. Please Pray also for us to continue to have safety on the road as we are constantly traveling to and from the Indian Colony and also that our truck will continue to run well as the road conditions are rough on our vehicle.

Pray for Samuel as he continues to train and equip faithful Tribal men for leadership in the Church. Please Pray also for him as he teaches Bible and literacy classes during the week.

Please Pray for Tracy, as she teaches a Sunday school class to the Tribal children. We have so many children who come to church on Sundays that we decided Sunday school would be a good idea and the children just LOVE it! The preparation is time-consuming for Tracy, as she must translate each lesson from English into Guarani before she can teach it. Pray for Tracy and Mamila too, as they continue to teach the Tribal ladies Bible class each Saturday. Please Pray for Tracy concerning the frequent headaches that she has been experiencing for the last few years which seem to be getting worse.

Please remember our own kids in your Prayers also, that they would continually seek God\’s will and have wisdom in decisions they make in their lives! Our two oldest daughters who live in the U.S.A. Rachael is a nurse in Chicago and Earl (our son-in-law)and Samantha and little Alex recently moved to Davenport, Iowa. Our children who are still at home are Stefany, who graduated from high school last year, Kristina in the 9th grade and Nathan in the 5th grade. Stefany is working at a large store that sells computer supplies and saving to start college next year.

Please Pray for us to have wisdom in prioritizing our time in our daily responsibilities as we seek to be a light for Christ to the Pai Tavyterã Tribal People.01-09-08_1103

PARAGUAY MAP

Dear Friends,                                     JUNE 2008

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Greetings from the Recaldes here in Paraguay. We hope this letter finds you all well and rejoicing in the many blessings of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

First of all, we want to thank you very much for your faithfullness in Praying for us and supporting us financially! Thank you for being our coworkers! We Praise God for his mercy and grace in our lives and for his faithfullness! We are thankful for the Lord\’s protection and provision of strength as we travel back and forth to the Indian Colony to teach His Word!

We continue to focus mainly on the one Indian Colony right now, as we see that the Church there is not quite ready to function on Its own yet. Pray for Samuel as he continues to train and equip faithful Tribal men for leadership in the Church. It is encouraging to see the work that God is doing in the hearts of the Tribal Believers! Please Pray for them as they grow in unity and in their understanding of the Bible.

Please Pray especially for Francisco, who is now one of the chiefs, that he will have wisdom in his responsibilities as one of the leaders in his Colony.

Please Pray for Tracy, for patience, wisdom and cultural insight in translation work. Pray for Tracy and Mamila, as they prepare to start another round of ladies Bible study classes.

We also have the priviledge to continue hosting the NTM guest house here in this small town. It basically involves keeping it clean, grass cut, linen washed and the beds made up and ready for when our missionaries from interior come in for supplies. We enjoy getting to visit with them also, as we are without co-workers right now.

Please Pray for us to have wisdom as we teach the Pai Tavyterã People God\’s Word and that many more will come to know the Lord as their personal Saviour.

Please Pray for more laborers for the work here in Paraguay. There are still many who have not heard and much that still needs to be done!

RECALDE PRAYER LETTER (APRIL 2008)

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Singing continues even after the church service is done

Psalm 119:89-90, Isaiah 40:28-31

Dear Friends,                                             April 2008
Greetings from the Recalde family. We would like to bring you up to date on our ministry amongst the Pai Tavytera Tribal People.

We have arrived safely back here to Paraguay and Praise The Lord for the three months of home assignment that we had in the U.S.A and for His protection as we traveled on icy streets which was a new experience for us! We had many opportunities to share regarding the work of New Tribes Mission here in Paraguay. It was so wonderful to get to see our two oldest daughters, Rachael and Samantha again and spend time with them! Samuel and the other kids got to meet Samantha\’s husband, Earl Thomas for the first time (I, Tracy met him last year) and of course the big attraction was our little grandson, Alex. We sure enjoyed getting to spoil him for three months!!

Please Pray for us now to have wisdom and strength as we get settled back into our ministry and responsibilities here. Please continue to Pray for for the Pai Tavyterã tribe that we work with. Please continue to Pray for the Tribal Church. They struggled some in our absence, but we Praise The Lord that there is a group of Believers who continue to walk in the Truth! Pray for them as they are learning and growing Spiritually. They continue to face opposition to the Gospel from some of the chiefs from neighboring Colonies but the faithful ones have stood their ground and continued to have Sunday Church services while we were gone.

Please Pray also concerning the New Tribes Mission\’s Mobilization program which we will be helping with this term. The Mobilization program is challenging the National Churches here in Paraguay to become more involved in reaching Tribal People for Christ.

Thank you for Praying for us and for supporting us in this ministry that God has given to us amongst the Tribal People of Paraguay! Thank you for being our Co-workers!
In Christ\’s Service, Samuel, Tracy and Family
