After almost 12 years in Papua New Guinea and 6 years at NTBI Bible School, I never dreamed that the Lord would have us return to an overseas ministry. But here we are in our mid 50’s, when most are looking to retirement, we are learning another language! I have to say, we are Praising the Lord for the privilege and opportunity to do just that.
Ron and I arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia just two weeks ago.
It has been a whirlwind with setting up an apartment, getting to know our way around the city, and adjusting to the many new sights, sounds and of course smells. My greatest challenge has been to relax in the traffic system. Imagine 2 Million people with 1 ½ million driving motorcycles and bicycles. Oh, and stop lights aren’t for motorcycles or bicycles and sometimes they aren’t even for cars. I have been praying lots as I travel around the city for the traffic safety of course but mainly for the people of Cambodia. This country has experienced such atrocity in recent years. Today we visited the “Killing Fields”. This is a literal field
that they have found over 20,000 bodies in a space of about two blocks. They think there is at least 20,000 more that haven’t been unearthed. This site is one of hundreds around Cambodia. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. You could still see clothes and fragments of bone
that comes to the surface every rainy season. One of the inscriptions said that the torture was so horrific that the “Khmer Rouge were human bodies with hearts of demons”.
A country without Christ is a country with no Hope. Please join us in prayer for the Country of Cambodia. Let’s bring them Hope.
WE ARE HERE!
Enroute CAMBIODIA
The truck arrived right on time! Ron and I have been very busy for the past few weeks packing and putting everything out in the garage awaiting this day. We had close to 15 students and staff from New Tribes Bible Institute Jackson willing and ready to load. What a blessing each one of them were in loading everything. Two hours later we were all loaded and heading off to McDonald’s for lunch.
One last farewell get together with the staff. One last Chapel with the students. Give our dog one last bath before the trip and here new home in Idaho. One last look around the house to make sure we got everything. One last look around Jackson.
And we are on our way. The Adventure Begins again! I have a picture of our oldest daughter, Keisa, holding up a sign just like that when she was only 9 years old. Twenty years ago and we are still on an Adventure for the Lord.
Our summer will be filled with a wedding of our daughter, Kayla to Craig Gilley. Building a garage to store our household items while we are gone. And hopefully being able to stop by and see many of you before we leave.
Tickets are bought and the departure date is set for August 26th. We would appreciate your prayers as this is going to be a very difficult language to learn and it is going to be particularly hard to say good-bye to our kids and 4 beautiful grand-children.
The Lord is my Strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Ps 28:7
MTC FIELD FAIR
The second annual Field Fair at MTC Camdenton was a huge success! This two day event was such a great eyeopener to the needs around the world. Fifteen countries were represented and we were thrilled to be able to represent the field of Cambodia. We had an overwhelming response during the question and answer time on Thursday. We pray that each one of the couples and singles will continue to Consider Cambodia in their future plans!
Cambodia Headquarters needed
October 2006, Ron and I, Sally Carraway were blessed to be a part of the First Cambodian Field Conference. At that time we were challenged to a ministry in the Capital of Phnom Penh. We are blessed to have four families in the country of
