Saved only by God's grace - headed to Paraguay

A look ahead

How has your summer been treating you? I’m so thankful that we serve a God who is perfect and sovereign. He is also intimate and desiring with open arms, for us to come to Him. A sneak peek at how much the Lord cares for us can be seen in Psalm 139:16, David says, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” This verse confirms in my mind that God is in control and knows where and how He is taking us!
I would like to give you a short update on a few things I had mentioned last month. The orange check light in my car continues to come on, but the car is running alright. The speed sensor and transmission are good, but supposedly there is a glitch in the computer. I’ve been informed that it’s not necessary to fix, unless it starts to shift or act strange again. As for my job at Starbucks, it is no longer. After several weeks of very few hours, I decided to call my boss this past week and request that he take me off the list of available workers. It’s all on good terms, but the Lord must have been closing that door allowing me to focus on other things. A significant amount of my time these days is spent with my Hispanic The ladies of La Iglesia Bautista Betel together for a mealchurch family here in North Carolina. They have been such a blessing to me as they are using me and preparing me in a sense for going oversees. I really need wisdom however in using my time and energy as I pursue the field of Paraguay.
One day people of all language groups will be present in heaven as Revelation 5:9b says of Christ, “For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” Currently, there are approximately 2,500 unreached tribal groups, Paraguay has 8 of those. Although New Tribes Mission has been working in Paraguay already for quite some time, a recent nationwide survey revealed much work left to be done. After praying and trusting the Lord to raise up laborers in opening up these 8 new tribal works and then considering a possible influx of new missionaries, Paraguay opened a school for missionary kids in 2007. The task of completing the work in Paraguay will most likely take entire lives of commitment, but the light at the end of the tunnel is visible! One missionary to Paraguay said, while the political situation in many South American countries has made it difficult for missionaries to continue their work, Paraguay still has an open door. Come and finish the work with us!
Prior to arriving in Paraguay, my next step is a 9 month period of further learning Spanish in Chihuahua, Mexico. Before my arrival in Mexico, I need more people upholding me in prayer, encouragement and financial support. Currently I’m at 22% of the recommended $2,542 monthly amount. Although recent changes in Mexico’s language program allows for flexibility in the date of our arrival, it is Jenna’s and my plan to arrive this coming January. There are a couple of things I need to keep in mind in making plans and setting dates and ultimately I want to leave all that in the Lord’s hands as I obediently and faithfully walk with Him. Thank you for being a blessing to me and for your huge part in reaching the unreached!
