After many long years we have officially completed our training with NTM. Matt finished and turned in his linguistic write-up on Cantonese. It feels much like the day after graduating high school, the whole world is before us, we are supposed to be prepared but feeling so inadequate and apprehensive. I guess that is where God wants us, trusting in Him not ourselves. Here are some things you can be praying about for our family.
- As we are looking at beginning our time of traveling and sharing about our future ministry in PNG
- for our organization
- for our preparation (power points, videos, messages)
- that we would clearly communicate
- that God would continue raise up partners
- we are currently at about 21% of our recommended support and need at least 60% before we leave
- As we are preparing our paperwork and completing the final steps for heading to PNG
- that all paperwork would be completed and accepted by the government
- that we will be able to begin booking flights soon
- that we can finish up all the legal paperwork before we leave
- that we will have all the necessities ready and shipped in time to arrive for us
- For the family
- that the kids would stay excited about moving to PNG
- that Matthew would be able to complete his flight training and get his pilots license
- after their youth retreat that Matthew and Meghan would remain encouraged and challenged about their walk with God
- that Matt and Christine would continue to walk in faith daily and spend quality time with God in prayer and reading His word
- for encouragement and peace as we enter a time of many goodbyes

We are down to our last couple weeks. Christine will continue in Childcare until the first week in November when Matt should be completely done with linguistics. We will be officially done with our training and will be transitioning into partnership development mode. We want to finish strong so we would appreciate your prayers.
- Pray for diligence for Matt as he sits in the house for hours analyzing Cantonese and finishing his write-up.
- Pray for a smooth transition for the childcare, they will be moving a new teacher into the toddler room when Christine leaves.
- Pray for organization as we prepare to do some traveling an sharing of this ministry God has called us to.
- Pray for our application process as we seek to enter the field of Papua New Guinea before next July.
- Pray that the kids will continue to be excited about serving in PNG.

Well, it looks like God has answered our prayer and has opened up a new door. After a couple weeks of family discussion, emailing and talking with some godly friends we feel that Papua New Guinea is the field we will begin pursuing. We are very encouraged and excited by the response from the field leaders and we believe we need to continue moving forward and allow God to close any doors He needs to. If we just sit here aiming for nothing that is probably what we will hit. Please continue to pray with us as we begin the process of applying to the field and transitioning into full time Partnership Development. God is doing great things in PNG and we feel privileged to be a part of the work He is doing there. Starting next month we will begin traveling and sharing with anyone who desires to hear about the work God is doing throughout the world as He builds His church. If you are reading this and thinking we want to know more please contact us through the contact page and let us know so we can begin making plans to visit with you.

We would appreciate your prayers as we are now deciding which direction God is leading us. As most of you should know we are not headed to South East Asia anymore, God has decided to close that door. We are currently looking into some of NTM’s traditional fields and hope to have some clear direction soon.

September has brought us some cooler weather and another month closer to the “Big Move”. This month Matthew will celebrate his 17th birthday on the 11th. We are excited as we are only a couple months away from completing our training which also means we will be transitioning into a more full time role of partnership development. Thanks again for checking in on us, for those of you wondering how you can pray for our family:
- for Matt as he is learning Cantonese for Linguistics and is finding tones to be very challenging. Balancing time with language learning, family time, quiet time with God and relationships at school and at the Homeless shelter.
- for Christine as she works in childcare and teaches daily. She desires to be more relational with students and staff here at the training center and also at the homeless shelter.
- for Matthew as he is turning 17 this month and is ever so close to being an adult. He still struggles to make mature decisions, and tends to wait for mom and dad to make those decisions for him.
- for Meghan who is starting to feel the drain of getting up at 5:00 am every morning to be at band practice by 6:15, then does a regular day of high school.

You may not have noticed yet but our NTM website looks different. NTM chose to change the format of their missionary websites to make them more user friendly for you and for us. Please look around and see the different ways to keep up with our lives and be patient if some links or pages don’t look right or work right. We are still learning how this new blog works and are working on making it easier to navigate.
There are tabs towards the top that link to different areas of our blog, also on the right side there are links to other areas of this blog.
Thanks again for your interest in our lives and the ministry God has called us to.

We would cherish your prayers in the following areas:
- For Meghan in marching band which takes many hours of practice plus having to be at all the home football games.
- For Matthew, that he would settle in to being a young adult and accept the responsibility that comes with it.
- For Christine as she ministers to the students here through child care, also for the new Bible curriculum she is preparing for the toddlers.
- For Matt as he prepares to study Cantonese for the linguistic practicum and interacts with all the new students.
- For our family, that we would continue to draw close to God helping us to draw closer together as a family.
- For our ministry, that we would be organized and use our time wisely as we work on sharing our ministry and allowing God to raise up more partners.

Yesterday was the first day of school for Matthew and Meghan, but for Meghan it was her first day of high school. Both of them came home talking a hundred miles an hour about all the happenings of the day. Meghan said the only time she felt intimidated was at lunch time with all the people and noise and not being really sure of what to do. They both seemed happy with all their classes and most of their teachers. Meghan is in marching band so she must be at school by 6:15 for early morning practice. We will be carpooling with the parents of other band members until October when early morning practice is over. Matthew must have liked choir, I heard him singing some songs last night after he got home from school. This is Matthew’s last year and Meghan’s first and last year of school in a regular American High School, starting next fall they will be enrolled in an international school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
