Patience with her balloon from Abba

Our sweet little girl is now a big 3!  Patience was so excited for her birthday to come.  The past two years we have celebrated her birthdays in Oklahoma as we were doing our language practicums among the Cherokee people.  This year we were thankful to be in Montana.  The irony of it is Read the rest of this entry »

At the end of August Lucas’s mom, Grace, went to the doctor in terrible pain.  The diagnosis was terminal colon cancer.   Although the news was terrible we have much to rejoice in.  One week later Grace came to recognize her need for Jesus as her Savior, freedom from the cancer of her soul.  Yes!!  Another name written in the book of life.  The transformation in her life was been radiant!   Read the rest of this entry »

Since completing the missionary training in December 2008, we have loved being home in Montana.  We have been humbled and amazed at the way friends and church bodies have come together to help us continue on our way to the Philippines:  living situations, moving trailer, food, furniture, garage sale donations, financial gifts, prayer, encouragement, hugs, treats for the kids, etc.  Thank you so much for your care and support of our family.   Read the rest of this entry »

Solomon is getting to be such a big boy.  Although he is five, he looks like a 6.5 year old.  His great achievement is to buckle his own seat belt.  It has been awhile now that Solomon could unbuckle but being able to buckle himself also is a great help to us. Read the rest of this entry »

May Prayer and Praise

Posted in Prayer Request on May 31st, 2009 | Discuss This Post

We are already half way through our trip and we are thanking God for our continued safety.

For the blessings of all those who have been willing to let us stay with them; we have several new friends in the Lord.

As our support keeps getting closer to our goal we are very thankful that more people are continuing to join our ministry team.

Our team has been a big blessing to us and without them this ministry would not even be possible. We continue to praise the Lord because of them and the work that God is doing in and through their lives.

Please keep our desired departure date (August 30, 2009) in prayer. We are not at 100% monthly support and if we leave in August, we are going to have to make that decision based on God working through the lives of others to partner with us financially.

Road Trip

Montana
Before we had even arrived at our first destination our water pump went out on our van. We praise the Lord that there was an auto shop close by and two hours later we were on the road again. We were blessed while visiting a church in Hamilton and friends in Missoula. Helping my parents, we gave the front yard a make over: repairing the rock wall and trimming the boulevard.

Idaho
Going through the Lochsa was beautiful, but not as rewarding as seeing college friends. We were able to visit my brother and his family and many of Naomi’s relatives. I visited Deary Community Church and was blessed by the fellowship there.

Lies People Believe about Missionary Funding

Posted in Ministry, News Article on Apr 30th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

While talking with friends and families we have noticed that many have an incorrect view of faith-based missions and support raising.  It is our hope that this article, written by Lucas, will help dispel some of the bad light and open an opportunity.  Addressed here are four lies that people are believing.

Lie #1: Ministry is all about money.

Paul is a great example of a missionary. His ministry was about people, those who worked with him and those he ministered among. There was always someone with him or helping provide for his needs. Many of those needs had a money trail. You will not read about him asking for money to do his ministry, but notice that he never did his ministry alone.
Our culture is not the same as the first century church.   Read the rest of this entry »

Lorenz Link April 2009

As our plans come together and we get closer to our departure date the number one question asked of us is, “How are you doing financially?” Although we do need finances in our ministry of church planting in the Philippines, what we need more are people who believe that missions are an investment.
Those people who donate financially each month or in one-time gifts are investing in God’s plan to reach the nations with His gospel of truth. You are a partner with us in the ministry of evangelizing and discipling Filipino people; in essence, you are going to be a part of the local body of believers in a church established twelve time zones away.

Solomon’s Fifth Birthday
April 3, 2009

Solomon will probably think that his birthday is one month long. In total he will have had 4 separate birthday events: with Grandpa and Grandma Lorenz, Grandpa and Grandma Kelm, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Darin, and our family.

Grandpa and Grandma Lorenz had the first party.   Read the rest of this entry »
