Ken and Kim White

ministry among the Kuman

About

Ken & Kim are currently in their third term working in the Kuman tribe.  They, along with their coworkers Will and Kelly Tallman, continue to work with teaching and discipling the Kuman believers.

Ken is also working on translation, currently translating 2nd Corinthians, the last of the Pauline epistles.  Will is developing Bible lessons to correspond with the books of the Bible that have been translated.  Will’s wife Kelly has worked hard to produce a workable literacy program, complete with teachers’ manuals.  There are currently 25 students participating in 2 literacy classes.

Kim’s  has helped Ken in the translation process by learning to translate back into English what Ken has translated so that it can be checked with a consultant.

Ken has so far been able to see several individual books of the Bible translated, checked and published.  These include: Genesis, a book of various O.T. portions, Mark, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy and Titus.  Revelation, Philippians, Colossians, 2 Timothy and 2 Corinthians are all in various stages of comprehension checking.

In July 2008 , the Whites movied to the Highlands mission center to live while their oldest son finishes high school.  They travel back to the village during the school holidays. Ken spends 10 days each month in the village where he is able to continue working with his translation helpers and share a bit in the teaching.  Their coworkers continue to live full-time in the tribe and carry on the day-to-day teaching and discipleship.
