"Mommy, tell me about David and the Giant." This is something I hear on almost a daily basis. He has the story memorized but still asks for it all the time. Well, lately he has developed quite the imagination and the other day, he gave an impressive theatrical appearance. It was one of those instances where you are trying so hard to hide your smile. He comes running up and says, "Shhh, Mama. There’s a giant outside." He grabs a couple of those big legos and heads to the door. He slowly opens the door and peeks out. In a whisper, "He’s right there!" He pauses for a second throws open the screen door and throws the blocks out. "Look, Mama. I hit him right in the head, just like David!" After this exciting event quieted down, I pondered a bit about my little boy. Even though he can be a handful sometimes, he loves to hear about the men who were mighty warriors for God. And if he wants to imitate them, then that is fine with me! When he grows up to be a man of God as David was, then I will truly be blessed. So, just a thought. When you have kids running around banging doors and throwing legos, remember what happens when you tell your kids Bible stories!
November Update

Happy Fall Y’all! It has been a little different fall for us since the weather here is still short sleeve and there aren’t many trees to be had! The sunsets are gorgeous though!
Josh has basically completed the maintenance part of his training, but is still helping out keeping the planes running down in the hanger. He will start flying at the beginning of December. He is very ready to get in the air again!
I continue my daily adventure of taking care of the kids and the home. God has really been teaching me alot about contentment and finding my fulfillment in Him and not in what I am or am not getting accomplished.

The kids are doing well and as busy as ever. Little Josh and I do a little class together everyday for an hour learning ABC’s and such. He really enjoys that. He spends his days playing outside and taking his "choo-choos" with him wherever he goes. Anna is cruising around everywhere and getting into everything. She continues to get new teeth and her hair is getting so long!
We are leaving this Saturday to go to Texas for Thanksgiving for a week. We are really looking forward to some time with family and friends.
We will be finishing our time here sometime next spring and hope to be leaving for the Philippines around January of 2009.

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. We are so thankful for each of you and the blessing you have been to us. Thank you for your involvement with expanding the reach of the Gospel to those who have never heard!
A sweet Ride!
Last month I had the opportunity to tour the Kodiak factory in Idaho. Mission organizations have waited years for an airplane like this. Designed with input from Missionary organizations around the world, the Kodiak is tailored specifically to our needs. It was an incredible experience just to to sit in the cockpit and see it fly. Despite it’s rugged, bush flying construction, the cabin is very modern, featuring three massive LCD panels that display all the flight information. It even includes a touch-screen climate control system! This awesome machine should be able to operate off of most of our current airstrips while carry nearly twice the weight, and cruising much faster. A major factor for New Tribes is that the Kodiak operates on Jet fuel which is readily available around the world, where the traditional av-gas is becoming expensive and difficult obtain even at prices of $12.00 or more per gallon. Pray with us that production will go smoothly for this unique tool for speeding the expansion of the gospel.
October Prayer Requests
Please pray for Josh as he begins his maintenance projects this month.
Our goal is to be heading to the Philippines sometime in the winter of 2009. Pray that God will bring the financial support that we need and that all the events will fall into place in order to accomplish this.
Pray for us to train and raise our children in God’s ways and that He will give us wisdom on how to do that.
Josh’s Usual & Unusual Days
Welcome to my husband’s world. A world of expected and unexpected. Days of mundane tasks to unusual ones.
On a "normal" day, Josh leaves for work at 7:00 a.m. He has just finished up maintanance & flight ground school and will begin tomorrow on his maintanance projects. This will included rebuilding a control surface on an airplane, doing a 500-hour inspection on a magneto (for all you ladies: what makes the spark in an engine), and various other projects.

And then there are the not so normal days. Josh and the other guys got to go to a large pool to do some water rescue training. This was to get some experience with life rafts and life vests that they would use in the event that they ever had to force land their plane in the water.

They also got to unload a Cessna 185 out of a crate shipped from the Philippines. It was interesting to see the plane in pieces. The guys were all enjoying themselves as they pulled out each part!

Josh will continue doing maintanance projects through December and then will be doing the flying part of his training the following few months. That’s how it is supposed to go anyway, but that really depends on how many "unusual" days come up.
An Arizona Welcome
It’s called a Mojave Green. It has the most potent venom of any rattlesnake in North America, 16 times more powerful than a Sidewinder! This big guy met us on the road this afternoon as we were out enjoying some Arizona back roads. This part of the country is a little different, but we are beginning to appreciate the rugged beauty around us. Check out the sunset this evening from the mountains just to our East. We have an Awesome God who enjoys giving us ever changing views of the beauty of His Creation.
Nobody
"Fred Somebody, Thomas Everybody, Peter Anybody, and Joe Nobody were neighbors in Barrensville, Mixedupy. They were an unusual bunch and all went to the same church. They were very active in their community. Everybody had a nice house and Somebody was always able to do the things he wanted while Anybody spent time watching his favorite TV programs.
One day, Nobody suggested that they sould all be more involved in the church missions program. Everybody thought surely that Somebody was praying for the missionaries, but Somebody knew that Anybody could pray for them. You know who really prayed for them? That’s right- Nobody!
Everybody began to wonder if Somebody was taking an interest in how their missionaries were doing. Somebody knew that Anybody could spend time writing and getting to know more about them and their work.
Guess who really cared and took the time to write? You’re right again- Nobody! Nobody was really quite a fellow! Whenever there was a missionary speaker, Nobody showed up. Nobody helped them on their way. Whereas, Anybody could have sent money to help them, he thought surely Somebody had given to them. But Somebody realized Everybody knew their need. I’m sure you know who finally came to their rescue- Nobody!
As they became more and more familiar with the realization of millions who have never heard of Jesus Christ, Everybody knew that Somebody needed to go and tell them the Good News. But, since Anybody could go, you know who finally went forth into the harvest fields of the world? Nobody!"

The fact that you are reading this shows that you are not, Somebody, Everybody, Anybody, or Nobody. You are THE BODY! Thank you for functioning as the body of Christ and for supporting us in the many ways you do!

Daltons in the Desert
Sunday, August 5, 4:00 a.m. After spending a busy summer with family and friends, we embarked on another leg of our journey. With a loaded Uhaul, we drove the 922 miles from Chico, Texas to our new home in McNeal, Arizona. We arrived at about 6:30 local time which has seemed very strange to us because it is 2 hours earlier! The time change has been quite an adjustment. The second we pulled into the driveway, we had a welcoming committee. We had everything unloaded and beds to sleep in by 9:00! It was a huge blessing to be so warmly received and have that kind of help.
Well. A little more about where we now live. McNeal is the headquarters for New Tribes Mission Aviation. About 40 families live and work here. We are located about 20 miles from the Mexico border and it is quite an experience to go into Wal-Mart and be the only one speaking English!
Our house is a cute single wide mobile home which feels like a mansion to us compared to our 450 square feet last year. It even has a dishwasher, a big bathtub, and counter space! Yes!!!
The kids are adjusting very well and always want to, "Go down to the shop. Look at the airplanes." Little Josh calls this his Arizona Airport Home.
Thank all of you so much for your prayers, support, and encouragement. We are so blessed and honored to be able to do what God has called us to and look forward to see what all He has planned for us.
Did God make Aliens?
Why did the dinosaurs die out? Are you a bad Christian if you don’t love everyone the same? How do we know that Christianity is true? Who created God? How is God so perfect? These are just a few of the questions we received this week as we taught a series of youth meetings for VBS at a local church. We were stunned by their response as we spent over an hour each night in serious discussion about God, Man, the Gospel, and living the Christian Life. On Monday night we taught about God as our creator and owner, and about his character as perfect, just and holy. We stressed the fact that he is so perfect that he cannot tolerate the presence of anyone who is not as perfect as he is. On Tuesday night we talked about the nature of man as God created him – perfect, and in perfect fellowship with God. Then we discussed Adam’s disobedience, and how that one act has affected all of us, and left us with no hope of ever meeting God’s perfect standard or regaining a relationship with Him. When we began the lesson Wednesday night, you could have heard a pin drop as they wrestled with our hopeless condition before a holy God. We asked, “What would have to happen for us to become perfect enough to have a relationship with God, since we can’t do it ourselves?” Someone had the bright idea that maybe someone could be perfect for us. It was incredible to watch the lights come on in their minds as we unfolded God’s plan of redemption through faith in Jesus Christ. Even for the ones who were already Christians, it was clear that they had a new understanding of what exactly Christ has accomplished for them. On Thursday night we had a question and answer time and discussed living the Christian life, and on Friday night we gave them the opportunity to “share the gospel” with us as “unbelievers” so they could put into practice the things they had learned through the week. We are so thankful for the awesome opportunity we had to share with these teens about core issues of life and for the way we see God working in their heart. Please pray that the seed that’s been sown will bring forth fruit in their lives.
