Pa Rum Pum Pum Pum went the little drummer boy. We all are familiar with this, one of my favorite Christmas carols, and we know what the singing of the song means…It’s Christmas Time! But what this also signifies for Jen and I here at the Missionary Training Center is the end of our first semester of Missionary Training. Just like a drummer keeping perfect time, so has this semester come to a close. There have been challenges, and their has most certainly been growth.
We are striving very hard not to “check out” mentally from the training courses here. Every training module has been filled with crucial information that we must know when we are full-time on the mission field. Are classes currently are Phonetics (which a have discussed before in a previous news article) and Ministry Partnership. In Ministry Partnership we are learning practical how to involve different supporters in our ministry to see that we are adequately supplied with a support network before we go to the field. It has been extremely eye-opening for both of us.
The semester officially ends on December 19th at noon, but in an effort to stay focused in class this week, we opted not to leave campus until Monday the 22nd. That way we can focus all week on what we are learning without having to be distracted by packing and making preparations. When classes end on Friday we can then turn attention to leaving on Monday.
That being said we will be flying out of Kansas City at 6AM on Monday morning and flying to Boston via Newark. Once in Boston we will spend a couple of weeks with Jen’s family in New Hampshire before returning back to Missouri. We wish that we could spend some time with our sending church in GA, but we haven’t been back to New Hampshire since we got married 2 1/2 years ago, so we thought it best to spend time with family while we still can.
While in New Hampshire we’ll be spending a lot of time with family, but also a lot of time catching up on some reading, and spending time in prayer. We are very much looking forward to this time. Thanks for reading! Merry Christmas if we don’t speak before then!
