About
Millions of tribal people around the world have never heard the name “Jesus Christ.” There is no Scripture in their language, no way for them to hear and understand the gospel.
Motivated by the love of Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, NTM exists to assist the ministry of the local church through the mobilizing, equipping and coordinating of missionaries to evangelize unreached people groups, translate the Scriptures, and see indigenous New Testament churches established that truly glorify God.
How do we fit in?
Our goal is to use our skills and professional training to assist tribal missionaries in planting churches as effectively as possible.
Joel is a certified A & P mechanic and has completed the specialized training provided by New Tribes’ Mission Aviation. His main ministry will be maintaining aircraft that serve missionaries in isolated tribal settings.
Just how remote are some of these locations? A good example is the tribe Joel’s parents work with in Brazil. For over thirty years, a half-hour flight was all it took to get them from the nearest town to their mission station. Unfortunately, the aviation program was recently closed; the thirty-minute flight became an arduous four-day journey through jungle, swamp, and rivers. This is just one example of the difference aviation can make in the lives of missionaries. Wherever possible, the airplane becomes a lifeline providing supplies, mail service, transportation, and help in case of emergencies. This frees missionaries to focus on the important all-important task of planting a tribal church.
Janelle is an elementary teacher with specialized training in Discovery—an educational therapy program designed for students with learning difficulties. Her main ministry (beyond the home) will be offering educational therapy for missionaries’ children.
In the remote tribal locations, options for educating missionaries’ children are limited. While many choose to home school, not all missionaries feel up to this task. And when they discover one of their children struggles with learning disabilities, missionaries can become discouraged, overwhelmed, or unsure how to proceed. Some must return to their home country to find assistance. As an educational therapist with Discovery, Janelle hopes to make it possible for missionaries to continue in their work without compromising the needs of their children.
How do YOU fit in?
Missions is the responsibility of the Church. The Great Commission applies to every Christian. God has called us to go. Perhaps He has called you to stay. Wherever we are, God has a part for each of us to play in reaching the lost.
Missionaries are not out there on their own. Each one of us represents a group of Christians in the homeland—those who pray and give so that we can go. If you want to be a part of our team, here are some ideas:
-Pray for us! You can sign up to receive our latest updates and prayer requests on the “contacts” page.
-Give financially each month. More details on our “give” page.
We consider it a privilege to work together with you to get the gospel to “every tribe and language and people and nation”!
