About

2009 045The Inaru church was established in 1994 when the people heard the Gospel from other missionaries with New Tribes Mission.  In 1997 Jason joined the missionary team in Inaru and began learning the language.  It is our belief that the truths of God’s Word will be best understood if they are presented in the mother tongue of the people we are teaching, so in 2000 after completing language study, Jason began the project of translating the Scriptures for the Inaru believers.  As of Nov. 2006 the New Testament is about 50% translated as well as several portions of the Old Testament.  We are able to devote most of our time to the translation of the Inaru Scriptures because the Inaru believers are undertaking the responsibility of teaching the Scriptures and running the church.  The Inaru church has one ordained elder named Raymond and as of this writing another man Matthew has started to help with the Bible teaching.  Please pray both for the Bible translation work being done in Inaru and also for the Inaru men who are teaching the Scriptures to their people.

Toni joined the Inaru work in 2004 when she married Jason.  Toni is still learning the Inaru language and is also developing some simple reading booklets for beginning readers in the village to practice their skills.  Please pray that Toni will continue to grow in her understanding of the Inaru language and that her life will be an encouragement to the Inaru church.

Jason also has other ministries outside Inaru.  He is being trained as a “translation consultant” to help check the accuracy of Scripture translations being produced by other missionaries.  Also, in an unofficial capacity, Jason is trying to get around to areas where missionaries have phased out of their work, in order to encourage the churches that are functioning on their own.  Please pray for wisdom as Jason seeks to encourage people in these different areas.
