Only God …

Friday, November 20th, 2009

God was already working.

Before we even wrote to you Thursday … before we decided Wednesday to pay our daughter’s $1,1162 college bill … before she even came to us with her need … He already had an answer in the works.

Yesterday, a couple who knew nothing about our need gave $1,000 to our ministry. They started the process to give before we even knew we had the need.

We’re certainly very thankful to them. We’re thankful you prayed. And what’s really thrilling is what this says about the way God works to glorify His name.

Thanks for being with us on this sometimes scary, often thrilling adventure!

Please keep praying for Jackie

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

We had expected Jackie, our oldest daughter, back in the office helping to write today, but she still wasn’t up to it. Please keep praying that she can get her vertigo under control.

Evan hurt playing soccer

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

On Monday, our son Evan injured his hip during a scrimmage at his high school. We’re grateful it turned out to be only a pulled muscle, but I’m sure Evan would argue with the word “only.” He’s in a lot of pain just walking, and the doctor wants him to use the pain as his guide for when he can go back to practice. Could be one week, could be 12. Please pray for a quick recovery.

Videos moving along

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

The Moi film is almost complete. The editing and effects should be complete at any time — perhaps today — and then we’re going to have an English voice-over recorded.

The promotional video for NTM’s Wayumi program is almost complete as well.

Pray that each of these projects will soon be completed, and pray for wisdom about what comes next.

Magazine’s next issue in process

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

The August issue of NTM’s magazine, NTM@work, is almost complete, and our writers are working on their stories for the November issue. Pray that their contacts go well and they would be able to pull together good stories that encourage folks to get more involved with the work God is doing through New Tribes Mission.

One project almost complete

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Thank you for praying about a couple of our ministry needs. So far, $730 has come in and another $500 has been pledged toward our next trip, leaving a need of $270.

We are also in need of $9,865 for ministry equipment before our next overseas trip, which could be as soon as this fall.

You can give online, or find out about other options >>

Dizzying times

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Our oldest daughter, Jackie, is having problems still related to Lyme disease. Due to constant vertigo, she is disabled, and volunteers as a writer at New Tribes Mission when she can. Because she’s a volunteer, she is able to use an NTM apartment, but her rent (like ours) has been rising and it’s difficult for her to afford on her disability payments. Pray that she can get an increase in her disability payments so she can make ends meet.

Also, she’s been experiencing a lot of serious vertigo trouble lately. Pray that she has less so she can get around and be more active.

Finally, she is hoping to get the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, to take a look and see if they can help with her vertigo. She’s applied for charity status; pray that it is approved so she can get help.

ASL Interpreter certification

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Our youngest daughter, Brynna, had trouble keeping up with her community college studies last semester while working full-time. She’s trying to get classes for American Sign Language Interpreter certification. Pray the she can work out everything necessary to do this.
