About
Our ministry is translating God’s Word into the language of the Manjui people. We have been working with these folk now for over 30 years and it has been a very rewarding work. God has given us this privilege serving in this capacity as His workers in the great harvest.
We have seen these folk grow from a small group of around 90 adults in 1977 to over 500 at this present time. Today there is a small body of believers who worship the Lord together and read to each other from the Scriptures that are completed at this time. Eventually we hope to see the whole New Testament as well as much of the Old in the language of these people. That is our goal.
For many generations before the mission began working among these people, their whole existence was occupied with roaming the harsh environment of the semi-arid sticker jungle looking for food and game. They were semi-nomadic in lifestyle and spirit, but it wasn’t their own choice. They were forced to move on to another location whenever the jungle food and game became scarce in one place or their waterholes went dry. Because of that, they were also extremely poor and ragged, and wore only the clothes that they made for themselves of cactus fibers. Everything they owned they could fit in carrying bags made from the same cactus fibers. Their biggest questions were always, "Will there be enough water and food for us today?" and, "Will one of us fall prey today to the demons roaming around in this jungle? Will one of those demons cause us to get sick and die? They were petrified of the dark and of the evil spirits whom they felt were all around them.
Now there is hope and a light shining in the darkness for these folk as they read the Word of God in their own language. Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Daily the Manjui are becoming more and more acquainted with this Light.
