Oscar (our Bolivian mechanic) and I made a trip to La Paz to visit the Aeronautics offices on Friday, the 12 of December. We handed out 2009 calendars and visited with the Director of Aeronautics. I asked about my pilot’s license, and the director said he was going to sign it on Monday and I should receive it on Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and no license. Wednesday came and went and no license. I talked with the local Aeronautics director here in Cochabamba on Wednesday afternoon, and he made a call right away to La Paz. Praise the Lord, I received the license at 11:00 am on Thursday morning, December 18th! I was so happy that I could make the flight to take Jenny and Melissa home, on Friday, to be with their folks for Christmas and New Years. It has been a trial for me to be without a license for one and a half months. We praise the Lord that we can partner with our coworkers (through aviation) in the church planting efforts here in Bolivia, once again.

I wanted to bring you up to date on our situation with licenses here in Bolivia. As of today, we are still not able to complete any flights since October 30th, due to no valid pilot’s license for me. Please be in prayer because today (Friday, November 21, 2008) we submitted a letter to the D.G.A.C. in La Paz requesting an exemption on how we obtain a Bolivian equivalency license from the current licenses we hold. (They have been giving us the equivalency licenses for many years.) They are now enforcing a law that was put into place in 2004 and it only gives foreigners the option of getting a six month license, and can only be granted two times. So that only allows you to fly for one year in the country. We are asking God for wisdom in working through this situation so that we can be a service to the field of Bolivia and the work of NTM.

Thank you for your prayers

Dwight

Prayer item for Bolivia:

Dwight and Diana Brown have been serving in Bolivia since July 2007. They are helping the field through the NTMA flight program. Dwight and Diana’s one year visa ran out September 9th and they are in the process of getting a two year visa.

Dwight is also in the process of renewing his Bolivian pilot’s license. He has to go through this renewal process every six months. His pilot license runs out the 30th of October. He has submitted the paper work at the beginning of October as it takes time. They ask for prayer for the visa to come through as this will delay him from receiving his pilot’s license and Dwight is the only NTMA licensed pilot flying in Bolivia right now. They sure do not want the flight program to be hindered from being a service to the field because of visa and license delays.

Please pray that their visa will be granted soon, as this is needed for the renewal of the pilot license, so that the aircraft can continue to be a tool in the Lord’s hands.
