About
After graduating from Pensacola Christian College with a BSN, Doug went to Venezuela as an associate missionary with New Tribes Mission. Since 1996, Doug has worked in Venezuela at Tamatama, NTM’s mission school for missionary kids, as a school nurse, teacher, and rural medic for 3 tribal groups located nearby. The time Doug had in Venezuela was a blessing to him as he saw God working in and through his life and in the lives of individuals all around him in Venezuela.
After getting married, Doug joined Kara at NTBI where he helped out in the Food Services Department as cook and Food Service Administrator. After one year his ministry changed to be the assistant to the President. Kara continued her ministry as Dean of Single Women. Then in May of 2004 we moved to Jersey Shore, PA to serve with NTM at their Missions Institute.
It has been our desire to head overseas into a tribal location to share Jesus with folks who have never heard of Him. We were heading to MO to get linguistics training when NTM Leadership asked if we would consider a different direction. They felt like our gifts and abilities would best be used administratively working with Mobilization. So currently we are located at NTM’s Home Office in Sanford, FL working with Mobilization. Part of Doug’s responsibilities includes heading up the stateside part of NTM’s Interface program. This is a college level missions course in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The participants learn what it takes to do tribal church planting from missionaries on the field. They also have daily interaction with tribal people from neighboring villages. Kara works alongside Doug helping the participants prepare for their trip. We are also involved in other aspects of Mobilization, helping raise the level of awareness in the area of tribal missions.
