Every couple days we venture into Dobu land where music echoes through the air and smoke often catches our noses off guard. There are six on our team who all huddle around a little hut to learn all we can from our very own Dobu language helper (picture to left). He teaches us about his culture and teaches us his language. Sometimes he has no explanation and says, “Its just the Dobu way.”
You may still be wondering what is this “Dobu” you are talking about?
Dobu is a mock culture that we enter into a couple times a week. It is during these times that we build a relationship with a Dobu man. This Dobu man is actually one of our teachers who dresses up and gives us a simulation of what we could possible run into when we are living in a tribe. After each session with our Dobu language helper we go back to our small group and discuss the good and bad of what happened. This discussion time is run by a teacher who watches us
interacted with the Dobu man and then helps us debrief after we have come back from Dobu land.
This class has presented real issues to wrestle with of which we are going to need an answer to when we are in a tribe. We praise God
for this excellent training we are receiving!
