About
Guaraní is widely spoken in Paraguay, being the heart language of the great majority of Paraguay’s 6 million inhabitants. Guaraní is also the heart language of some of Paraguay’s tribal groups and of some tribes in nearby countries. For this reason our field leadership asked us to work on producing Bible lessons in Popular Guaraní based on the “Firm Foundations” series. “Popular Guaraní” is what we call the version of Guaraní spoken widely throughout Paraguay. These lessons can be used by Paraguayans and also as the translation for missionaries to adapt to particular tribal groups who speak Guaraní. The exception is the Pai tribe which already has these lessons adapted to their culture and vocabulary.
In 2001 we moved out of the tribal location so that we could dedicate our full time to this project. The lessons cover evangelism, teaching for new believers and studies for believers ranging from the book of Acts through Revelation.
Dean is involved in production and revision of the materials. Nellie proof reads and formats the materials on which Dean works. Dean and Nellie continue to have interaction with Aché believers as opportunity arises. Dean periodically teaches in the Tribal Bible School (Mboi Jagua), when invited by the director.
In August of 2008, we joined the NTM-PY Mobilization Department to help the Nationals as well as the Tribal Groups to be involved in World Evangelism and showing them how to use the Firm Foundational Bible Lessons in their teaching.
