Cicada Killer... 2.5 inches long
Killer Wasps
I ran across this monster in Indiana, while visiting some supporters and family.
Now… not all of you know that I am deathly allergic to bees. So, when I saw this mean machine flying at my head… I about jumped out of my pants.
Screaming like a little girl, I ran into the house to peak at this awesome creature.
After some study on the internet, I found that this BEAST is no threat at all to mankind… especially me! They are only after one thing… CICADAS.
It is amazing how fear leaves you when you learn TRUTH. I quickly applied this principle to my christian life as we make preparations to move to Southeast Asia. I have been gripped with fear at times, until I am reminded in Scripture that God will never leave us nor forsake us… His love surpasses the county line, the state line, and the country you choose to call home.
Smokey Mountains
As the years move along, and we grow together as a family, I find it is pointless to have a child pose for a picture!
You want to remember your kids as who they were while they growing up right? My advice… don’t make them stand still… you get more of there personality and original smile.
Here we are in the Smokey Mountains… before crossing the TN-NC state line. We were coming from the west end of TN. We had spent a day or two with some of our supporters. Great folks. This was a beautiful site. I just need to figure out how to get Darlene’s finger nails out of the arm rest. The ride up didn’t have any guard rails and I am known to swerve around a bit.
Have an AWESOME day.
Dave
A man who goes by the name of “Shrift” called me the other day from New Hampshire to check up on us and see how are support raising progress was going.
He proceeded to tell me that he was involved with Camp Good News and the kids wanted to make a difference in missionaries life. As you guessed… we were the missionaries they picked to encourage.
The kids made it their weekly project to BUY 4 shipping trunks for our ministry.
God has been overwhelming us with His provision through the body of Christ… If it wasn’t for Shrift making the connection, we would have without those shipping trunks and the kids would not have had the opportunity to encourage us.
ENCOURAGE SOMEONE TODAY!
Connect them with someone who may make a difference…

First of all, animism is not a "religion" that tribal people subscribe to. Religion is a system of belief, worship and submission to a "higher power" or deity of some sort. It’s putting yourself under someone or something else. But animism is very different. It is a worldview that sees everything in the universe as warring against each other to become the "deity" or "king of the hill." It’s always striving to put yourself over someone or something else.
The term "animism" was coined by Sir Edward Tylor, a late 19th century anthropologist. It refers to the belief that everything in the world, including people, plants, animals, objects and even dreams and ideas, have a soul or spirit which "animates" them or makes them "conscious." So instead of viewing man as the dominant being of Creation, the animist sees himself and everything else as on an equal playing field, totally interrelated with every other person or object, and constantly battling for supremacy in life — every "soul" for itself. Consequently, his existence becomes one long, fearful "game" or "match" of tricking, fooling, deceiving or appeasing these other souls and spirits by certain rituals, traditions, sacrifices, magic spells or divination, to secure his own personal well-being and gain.
But at the same time, these souls are fighting for themselves against him. So the animist can never stop fighting, clawing and striving for his life, his health, his garden, or his future. If he does, all these other spirits will quickly engulf his existence and snuff it out for good. So the witchdoctor or shaman is highly regarded because he is obviously better at manipulating the spirits and "keeping them at bay." And Satan takes full advantage of this misconception that everything has a soul or spirit. He is more than happy to supply the demons to support their beliefs.
The tribal people’s animistic worldview provides the perfect opening for rampant demon activity. But through careful, thorough Bible teaching, an animist can gain a proper understanding of the Creator, the world that He made, and how it all operates in reality. And slowly, as rocks, trees, plants, dead people and dreams become exactly what they are — harmless and soulless — then the souls that really do exist can be focused on — theirs.
This year has proved to be the craziest I have ever known in my 34 years of life. I was recently re-united with my long lost father.
We have not seen each other in 12 years. Upon visiting him, I found out the he had recently believed the gospel of grace and desired to be involved in my life more as the years pass.
Interestingly enough, he found me through facebook! Go figure. All these years… To tell you the truth, I found out a lot about who I am as a man by having this meeting with my father.
It just goes to show you the apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree.
Thanks for your ear, Dave
