Where and Why we go…

Posted in Uncategorized on Mar 3rd, 2009 | Discuss This Post

The canoe slipped through the black water threading its way toward the distant river island. Huge trees and dense vegetation lined the banks dwarfing the tiny vessel.

The only sound was an occasional splash as two men dipped their paddles in the murky water. Anticipation hung in the air as the missionaries headed for unknown territory.

As they neared the island, their strokes increased in intensity and they quickly arrived and pulled the canoe onto the white sandy beach. The men got out, flexing stiff muscles, and gazed at their surroundings. Adobe huts dotted the area; the embers of a cooking fire waned, but there were no visible signs of life. Yet the two missionaries sensed that hidden eyes were observing every move.

Suddenly several nearly naked men came toward them, speaking in a language the missionaries did not know. As the two groups stepped forward to greet each other, one of the missionaries chuckled ruefully and wondered aloud, "What in the world are we doing here?"

Encouraged in CO…

Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 18th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

Meeting at the Glen Eyrie conference center this week in Colorado Springs with the Navigators has been a wonderful time with many of God’s great servants.

I have been blessed to meet with so many who are passionate about training others to walk with God and see Him raise up their ministry partnership team.

Talking with a few special leaders and servants like Steve from thebodybuilders, Betty from YWAM, Ellis from Campus Crusade and Scott from Navigators have thrilled and encouraged me.  I have learned so much and appreciate this wonderful opportunity.

Pray for Carolyn and I as we seek to bring the best training practices to our NTM USA training.  Pray as we continue to develop the new ministry partnership training module for our staff and students.

Thank you for your prayer and financial partnership that allows us together to bring the Gospel around the world to remote people groups.

From Nashville to around the world…

Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 6th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

Tonight, Carolyn and I flew to Nashville, TN to attend the National Religious Broadcasters Convention with our NTM Communications team!

Wondering why our team would be here for the convention? Well….it has everything to do with raising the awareness of unreached people groups (UPG’s) around the world through the best media practices possible. Our team has put together some great radio spots that we are planning to play across the USA in various media outlets.

One of our great friends on the Lake of the Ozarks is Dick and Shirley Bott – Founder of Bott Radio. He and his family love NTM and they are now playing these radio spots on their 80+ stations across the Midwest.

Pray for all of us involved in raising the awareness of unreached people groups around the world this week at the NRB convention. Pray for the right "God connections" during this week of media mania.

Listen to "Reach Beyond Your World" – a series of 60-second radio spots about what God is doing in tribal villages around the world. The stories challenge, encourage and inform you of a world often forgotten but very much alive>>>>>>Click here

PRAY’09

Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 24th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

PRAYER is our greatest NEED during these days of seeing our family grow up and move out; watch our ministries expand and as we daily "walk by faith" and teach and disciple students each week.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT) "Never stop praying."

As we start the new year…our family is already scattered and in need of PRAYER:

  • Kevin has begun his last year at Hillsdale College with his student teaching at Northwest High School in Jackson, MI. He graduates in May majoring in German, History and Education.  He plans to travel to Europe in June.
  • Brian just returned for his second semester at Shepherds College in WI. He is doing well and we would appreciate your prayers for the financial provisions needed of around $2100.00 monthly for his room, board and tuition.  God has wonderfully provided all of last semester.
  • Megan is performing in her Camdenton high school play, "Beauty and the Beast" this Feb. She is enjoying high school and starts Drivers Ed this year!
  • Carolyn is developing a new curriculum for teaching the families on our campus.  She continues to teach a high school girls Bible study each Sunday.  She is still recovering from skin cancer surgery on the front of her face – on the cheek. We are praying for a quick and full recovery.
  • Dave began the year with a very busy schedule of ministry travel and coordination in our USA training and development ministries. Students have now arrived on all 3 campuses and we are thankful for the privilege to serve the Lord together as a family with wonderful co-workers. He continues to work on many new initiatives for NTM.

THANK YOU for your comittment with us to get the Gospel out around the world this coming year.  Many new tribal groups will be hearing the "good news" for the very first time in the history of their culture.

We are blessed by your prayers and are touched by your faithful financial support each month.  Many blessings to you and your family in ‘09.

All of our love – Dave and Carolyn

A great Christmas send off…

Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 23rd, 2008 | Discuss This Post

97 students graduated this past Friday night from our Missionary Training Center!

What a great way to kick off the Christmas season – knowing that students have completed their training with us and are headed out to the far corners of the USA and eventually around the world.

There was a packed house at First Baptist Church and a God-honoring program with wonderful opening words from my dear friend, Pastor Bob AuBuchon, Sr. Pastor of the church.  The student band helped each of us worship the Lord through several Christmas songs.  The place came alive with over 500 people praising God for His wonderful son this Christmas season.

2 students gave their final stirring words to their peers and community.  John Birkemo presented the final challenge to the graduates and encouraged them to "be confident" of all that God has prepared them for in the future.

The commencement ended with the students walking across the platform to receive their diploma’s, completing their training with NTM USA.

The next step for these graduates is many months of trusting God and talking with His people, to raise up their prayer and financial support team as they move forward toward their future ministries.

Dave teachingSpeaking of next steps, I just completed teaching a new Partnership Development course to these graduates and our first term students this past week.  Many new partnership principles were taught and new tips and tools were launched to help provide the students with the greatest opportunity to maximize their impact for Jesus Christ in their life, family and ministry.

Partnership role playsThe students received over 40 hours of intense training that included many hours of pre-course work, reading, analyzing, watching skits, practicing sharing their ministry vision and goals and role playing and sharing their passionate God led stories.

Class attendeesOver 40 students and staff attended the first 8 hour seminar in Nov. and over 60 students and staff attended the first new course Dec. 4-18.   This was a huge undertaking and we pray God will use it to glorify Himself and help our students connect better with God’s people for effective partnerships.  Our entire Development team did a fantastic job in helping launch this vital new initiative in NTM.

Pray for each of these graduates and new members of NTM.  Pray for the new students that will be arriving this Jan. to begin their training with us too.

Pray for us as a training staff and each of us as families, taking some time away from the blessings and rigors of ministry to relax, refresh and take time for family and friends during this Christmas season!

Thank you for your prayers and financial partnership that makes it possible for our family to serve the Lord in training the next generation of church planters.

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year in ‘09!

Partner together for what?

Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 3rd, 2008 | Discuss This Post

YOU are so critical, so We can together, get the Gospel out around the world!

This month we are involved in a new initiative in New Tribes Mission.  After spending many months and very long weekends, we have totally revamped our partnership training curriculum for our student body.  This will allow them to receive some more in-depth training to know how to develop their ministry partner team.

Some have said that it takes a team of 40-60 people and churches to provide the prayer and financial support necessary to get our missionary candidates to their fullest capacity, for maximum impact in their life, family and ministry.

This Thurs. we kick off the new course at our Missionary Training Center with over 60 students.  Pray for the facilitators, students and a disciplined focus by all.

Our enemy does not want to see our students fully supported – so this is truly a spiritual battle.  He does not want to see the body of Christ involve themselves in the great commission.

Would you go to battle with us in prayer as we arm ourselves daily for an intense next 2 weeks of training for the lives of unreached people groups around the world?

We need your prayers to launch this new initiative successfully.

Pray specifically for us on Thurs. at 8:00 am!

  • Clarity of content
  • Courage of students
  • Disciplined focus
  • God’s provision of ministry partners
  • God to receive the Glory

Let’s pray!

Joshua 1:9 -  "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Phil. 4:14-20  / 14 "Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles. 15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid again and again when I was in need. 17 Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account. 18 I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
