97 students graduated this past Friday night from our Missionary Training Center!
What a great way to kick off the Christmas season – knowing that students have completed their training with us and are headed out to the far corners of the USA and eventually around the world.
There was a packed house at First Baptist Church and a God-honoring program with wonderful opening words from my dear friend, Pastor Bob AuBuchon, Sr. Pastor of the church. The student band helped each of us worship the Lord through several Christmas songs. The place came alive with over 500 people praising God for His wonderful son this Christmas season.
2 students gave their final stirring words to their peers and community. John Birkemo presented the final challenge to the graduates and encouraged them to "be confident" of all that God has prepared them for in the future.
The commencement ended with the students walking across the platform to receive their diploma’s, completing their training with NTM USA.
The next step for these graduates is many months of trusting God and talking with His people, to raise up their prayer and financial support team as they move forward toward their future ministries.
Speaking of next steps, I just completed teaching a new Partnership Development course to these graduates and our first term students this past week. Many new partnership principles were taught and new tips and tools were launched to help provide the students with the greatest opportunity to maximize their impact for Jesus Christ in their life, family and ministry.
The students received over 40 hours of intense training that included many hours of pre-course work, reading, analyzing, watching skits, practicing sharing their ministry vision and goals and role playing and sharing their passionate God led stories.
Over 40 students and staff attended the first 8 hour seminar in Nov. and over 60 students and staff attended the first new course Dec. 4-18. This was a huge undertaking and we pray God will use it to glorify Himself and help our students connect better with God’s people for effective partnerships. Our entire Development team did a fantastic job in helping launch this vital new initiative in NTM.
Pray for each of these graduates and new members of NTM. Pray for the new students that will be arriving this Jan. to begin their training with us too.
Pray for us as a training staff and each of us as families, taking some time away from the blessings and rigors of ministry to relax, refresh and take time for family and friends during this Christmas season!
Thank you for your prayers and financial partnership that makes it possible for our family to serve the Lord in training the next generation of church planters.
Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year in ‘09!
