Mexico!

Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 10th, 2009 | Discuss This Post

I made it to Chihuahua, Mexico one week ago after traveling from North Carolina, to Louisiana, to El Paso, and finally to Chihuahua. It took over 30 hours to get from North Carolina to Mexico. I was certainly glad to be out of the truck!

I am living in the Mexican Bible School dorm about 3 blocks from the school. I live on the second floor with three roommates–Sylvia, Nazareth, and Tanya. I’m looking forward to getting to know them, but more so looking forward to being able to talk to them in Spanish! They will be with me for the long haul as I slowly learn Spanish.

Please pray for our class of 8 as we begin culture and language study. To see pictures of Mexico, head over to the photo page.

Items I need for Mexico & Paraguay

Posted in Uncategorized on Sep 5th, 2008 | Discuss This Post

In my recent newsletter, I mentioned that I am buying items I need for Mexico & Paraguay. If you’re interested in helping in this way, just let me know what product you are looking at so I can take it off the list!

Eye Glasses Repair Kit

This can be found at any drugstore–just in case I need to work on my glasses!

-

PURCHASED! Electrical Outlet Adapter

Many of the outlets in Mexico do not have a ground (the third round prong)–these adapters will make my three-prong cords fit!

AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries

I will be using my camera & digital voice recorder a lot, and these will keep them going!

PURCHASED! Laptop Fan Stand

This will keep my computer cool in tropical conditions & extend the life of the battery.  This is made at NTM Tech Tips for DC (direct current) use, so I will also need to purchase an AC (alternating current) adapter.  (We use AC everyday when plugging into a wall.)

PURCHASED! Energizer Family Battery Charger

This will charge all sizes of batteries!  Check it out

-

PURCHASED! Single Stage Surge Suppressor

I will be buying this from NTM Tech Tips.  The best one for Mexico & Paraguay runs at $26.25.  If you feel God leading you to help out in this area, please let me know!

Thanks so much for taking the time to look!

God bless,

Carrie

Disclaimer: Items bought from NTM Tech Tips must be purchased through a New Tribes Missionary.

And On To North Carolina

Beijing, Chinese food, and Paraguay!

This weekend I traveled from Louisiana to Georgia to stay with a friend from Bible School, Amber Caldwell.  We had a great time together watching the Beijing Opening Ceremony, touring the "World Of Coca Cola", and walking around the Olympic Centennial Park in Atlanta.  (See pictures here.)

On the Road Again!

I made it safely to North Carolina on Sunday, and now I am getting involved with the church here.  Please pray for me as I am getting things ready for traveling to Pennsylvania, Florida, and Kentucky in the fall, yet still trying to "be all here".  Thanks!

Prayer Requests

1.  That I will continue to grow in the Lord and seek His guidance in all things.

2.  For my traveling plans over the next few months: Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

3.  For opportunities to share about God’s work in Mexico, Paraguay, and in my own life.

Thanks!

Wrinkles in Time

No, I have not been involved in time travel, but the timing of my departure for Mexico has been changed.

This week I decided to wait until January to go to Mexico for Spanish training.  This decision came with much prayer and counsel as I determined what God wanted me to do.  By delaying my departure from August 2008 to January 2009, I will be able to do some traveling to visit family, friends, and churches I have not seen for a while.  During these extra five months, I hope to see my support level increase, as I am currently at 40%.

How do you fit into this?  Well, I’ll be traveling mainly on the East Coast, but I would gladly come share anywhere and in any type of meeting.  Prayer-wise, I will be driving a lot, spending time with friends and family.  Pray also that I will continue to be confident in this decision, as there will be times I will wish I was in Mexico already!  I’m excited to see what God has planned for the next 5 months!

Please be in prayer for:

–sharing with others about missions and my future in Mexico and Paraguay

–my support level to increase above 60% so I can go to Chihuahua, Mexico in August

–my ministry at my home church here in Louisiana

Autumn & Carrie on Lake Michigan

I’ve returned from Wisconsin, and I’m now looking forward to Mexico in August!  I’m praising God that I’ve made it back safely after a long trip back.

Soon I’ll have this new website up and running fully.  Take some time to look around!
