Tribal Church Planting in the Philippines

First Impression

Manila is an amazing city!  It is getting late here, but I will try to give you a quick glimpse of one first impression.  (Pictures will post soon)

Traffic.  Traffic is a way of life here.  Manila is filled to the brim with people, all hustling and bustling to a million different places.  There are bikes, motorcycles, trikes with sidecars, taxis, private cars, jeepneys, pedestrians… all mingling together in a heap of gridlock and fumes.  Vehicles zig-zag and honk their way through the city in a constant fight to get where they’re going.  People hop on and off public transportation in the middle of the street, pedestrians cross everywhere, and cars see the lines on the road as more of a guideline than a rule.  There is no speed limit, but with no open road, that doesn’t seem to be an issue.  Somehow, in all the chaos, we are beginning to see that there is a kind of order.  Even so, as we become a part of this complicated dance, it is not without many white-knuckle moments!

So that’s one first impression.  We’ll get more up soon & pictures too.

Thank you SO much for praying for us as we are going through major adjustments.  We are all doing well.  It has been an exhausting month, but we feel pretty good, just tired.  Jetlag is losing it’s grip, and Daniel is nearly back to his normal self.  Everyone here at the mission home as well as every Filipino we’ve met has been so kind.  Today we signed the lease to our new apartment and tomorrow we move in.  That will be great to have some order back into our lives again.  Also, tomorrow is Daniel’s 1st birthday, so we’re really excited to celebrate that.  Thanks for staying in touch with us!
