CRATES!!!!

Posted in Our Ministry on Jul 10th, 2010 | Discuss This Post

We woke up Monday and looked out our bedroom window and saw this ship coming into port!

coming into port

Bill had just gotten his wharf pass so that he could pick up our crates when they came in but it wasn’t until Wednesday that they let him in to pick them up.

They were so close!!

docked

YEA!!  Here comes Bill with the third crate!

I needed to show you a picture of the last time that I saw them…getting ready to leave NY to make the trip to NC

They left the port in NC on Monday, March 8th, the same day we left NY.

ok enough snow pictures let’s get back to PNG!

This picture {below} is not just a picture of Bill unloading the crate but in the background you see the apt. we will be remodeling.

There is a single lady that lives in the ground level apt. and we will live on top.

The five long windows on the left are living room windows and the two smaller windows are above the kitchen sink.  More pics of that later!  Back to crates!

Oh we can’t wait to get into them!  It’s a big deal to smell the crates that come from America…they smell so good!

The crates and the contents smell so fresh, unlike the mold smell of everything else!

Brandon, the guy smelling the crate, is heading home on furlough with is family this month.

Garrett and Jake anxious to get into the crate…it was like opening a great big present!

They were not even going to wait for Bill to find the cordless screwdriver

AHHHH YES!  It’s open!

DSC07703

Thanks for all who helped pack them and get them here!  It was fun to see our things again and we found a note in one

of the boys totes from their Aunt Shelly!

Sunrise in Sinow

Hi there!  It was the longest 6 weeks of my life…it was good but I sure missed being in contact with you all.  Internet and email is such a blessing for those of us who are so far from home.  Many before us can share stories of receiving letters from home and it taking 6 weeks or more.  And now we have gotten a small glimpse of what our bush missionaries go through but they are there for sometimes 6 months at a time and for several years.  Bill and I will have the opportunity to go often and visit the dear folks in the interior and we look forward to doing all that we can to encourage them.  I will be adding a photo album of our bush orientation so look for the Bush Orientation album and check back for updates because it will take me awhile to upload most of the pictures.

Today I spent most of the afternoon on a chair {because it was the only place that I could get good enough internet}  putting our pictures in albums and uploading them for our site!  As you can see over on the right hand side there are different photos with different names, I will be uploading our pics in these files and in time adding more albums.  We hope that this helps keep you connected and gives you a little window into our world.  Just click on an album and take a look around :)

This is me and Rosi!  Rosi comes on Wednesday’s and helps around the house but our main reason for having her in is to help me learn the language.

Rosi is such a blessing to us and because she barely speaks English it forces me to learn the language so that I can talk.  We have a great time together and share many laughs.

More pics were added to the photo box too!

This is a picture of Bill with his language helper…Charlie!  They have already begun to build quite a relationship…What a blessing he is to Bill, he enjoys talking to Bill and they love to spend time together.  There is a building project that they are about to start and Bill and the boys are going to help them out!

What a beautiful day to fly!  Heading to Chicago.

DSC05569

They took us up and over so we got to see the Arctic Ocean!

It was beautiful!  The one temp. they showed from there was -71

The fastest speed recorded was flying over Canada 620 mph

The coldest was -82 {picture below}

DSC05572

Flying into Hong Kong was beautiful.  It was a very long trip and Bill, Jake and I only sleep a few minutes here and there…Garrett however slept a long time :)

We’re glad the 15 hr. and 39 min. flight is over…it was really long!  We are excited about the next few hours and we arrive to our final destination…our new home!!

3 boys

We had a GREAT trip to Canada.  It was so refreshing and relaxing.  We had a great time seeing many of our dear friends…we would have loved to stay another week to see more people but we really needed to get home.

We hit the ground running once we were back in New York.  We received word on shipping our belongings so we needed to get back and get to work.  The boys had fun hanging out with Titus all week and the New Tribes Academy that the boys attended during our training gave the kids a “Snow Day” while we were there.   We got our taxes done and we sat down with the tech guy up there and he helped us put our order in to the New Tribes Tech Center for our water filtration system and the transformers that we need to take over to PNG with us.

The hardest part about the trip was saying our good-byes.  We tried to say “see ya later” but those are really hard too!  Jake and Titus got really close while we were in training and we thank the Lord for him and his family.  The great thing about these friendships is that they will last forever…as believers we will be in Eternity with our Lord!

Our Home away from Home!

snow pic 1

We had hoped to get to the New Tribes Mission Canada where we went through training before we left for the field…we made it!

It seems so good to be back here.  Pulling into the drive there was a sense that we were home.  We lived two years of our life here and made some lifelong relationships at this place…what a special treat to be able to come here and spend some time with everyone before leaving.

Bill wanted to be able to work on some of the building expansion projects while we were here.  Today he had the opportunity to go snowmobiling for the day.  Jen has enjoyed catching up with friends and sitting in on some classes.  And Garrett and Jake are spending as much time as possible with their bestest bud…Titus!

We’ll post some more pics in a couple of days!!
