NEW MINISTRY BEGINS

Wes and Penny and their partners are beginning a ministry among the Menya people.

September 5, 2008

by David Bell

Missionaries Wes and Penny Chappell and Steve and Natalie Arn have begun the process of beginning a ministry among the Menya people of Papua New Guinea.

The two men recently spent two weeks with the people to express their desire to live with them and teach them God's Word in the Menya language.

"We explained that it will take us a long time to learn their language, but we were going to work hard to learn it as soon as possible," Wes wrote. "The community as a whole said they wanted us to come and live with them."

The men's wives and children joined them for four days. The two families are now planning their next trip.

"We are going to go in and build a small office," wrote Wes. "For the office we are going to use bush materials -- bamboo floors and walls and 'karuka' leaves for the roof. The plan is to live in our offices while we cut lumber for our houses. We have already put the posts in for our office and the people are gathering the rest of the material right now to finish the offices."

Please pray for the two families as they make the move and begin building relationships with the people. Pray that God will provide people who will faithfully work with the missionaries to learn the Menya culture and language.
