Opening the door to mother tongue literacy
Opening the door to mother tongue literacy

As a part of the church planting process, I minister in the area of literacy, giving tribal believers the opportunity to be fully involved in the life and function of their local churches. For tribal believers, reading, being able to understand the Word of God on their own, is key to a vital relationship with their living Creator and His children around them. Since 1990 in Panama I've been helping in many-faceted ways to set up reading programs and train leaders for native-language reading classes. During that time the Lord has opened the door for me to help out briefly a few times in South America a well. As the expatriate missionary role is being turned over to the new churches in Panama, I will have more and more opportunities to expand my service to the Latin American fields in which New Tribes Mission serves: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Paraguay .
