Inanbimali believers in Papua New Guinea showed their trust in God when a witchdoctor recently came to their village offering to cleanse their house of spirits for a small fee.
With the house cleansing came a guarantee -- no one who lived in the house would get sick or die. But the witchdoctor also threatened that those who didn't accept his offer would soon get sick and die.
Zaccheus stood up in the believers' meeting and said, "Everyone is free to follow their own thinking, but the footprints of this liar will not be around my house. Only God controls sickness and death. How can a mere man tell me he controls these things?"
Another man, Job, spoke in the men's house. "God alone holds us in His hands. … I have no fear of this man's words."
How can you teach God's Word so clearly that even people who until recently had no concept of the God of the Bible, can now plainly discern what is in line with the Bible?
That's one of the things that is taught in New Tribes Mission's specialized training program.
New Tribes Bible Institute provides a solid biblical foundation for missionaries -- and for others who plan to make God the focus of their lives. NTM's Missionary Training Center provides practical instruction in skills necessary for planting churches among unreached people groups.
Students at both Bible institute campuses in Wisconsin and Michigan, and at the training center campus in Missouri, are deep in their studies while also making plans for where they'll be this summer and next fall. Pray that they will be able to focus on what they are learning, and wisely use their time to make godly decisions about what comes next.
The training center campus continues to expand so more students can be trained, so more tribes can hear. Pray that funds come in for the new Fleming Center, a classroom, student center and faculty office complex that is the focus of the reconfigured campus.
