MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS GRADUATE (March 2, 2008)

5 Siawi people have studied to be medical providers in the tribe.

• Praise the Lord for the Village Heath Volunteer training program, and for those from our village who graduated.
• Pray for wisdom for the three men, Mabou, Wesiok and Kolin, as they will be the primary medical providers in the Siawi village.
• Pray for Abo and Kofele, as they have received training to be midwives for the village.

SHAKING OF HANDS SETTLES DISPUTE (March 2, 2008)

During a tribal court on Tuesday, the people settled a dispute which had interrupted Bible teaching.

• Pray for the peace to continue as we teach God’s Word.

TRIBAL COURT SCHEDULED (February 25, 2008)

A dispute has interrupted teaching sessions. A tribal court has been scheduled for Monday afternoon (February 25).

• Please be praying that the dispute will be settled to the satisfaction of all involved and that all the people who want to attend the teaching will be able to do so without fear and distraction.
• Pray for Sabien’s salvation.

CATCH UP ON PROJECTS (January 10, 2008)

We have finished the Phase 2 lessons, and are taking a 2-week break before starting to teach Acts.  We will be busy during those two weeks.

• Pray for safety in the construction projects.
• Pray for wisdom in the ministry projects.

PREPARATION OF ACTS LESSONS (January 5, 2008)

We will finish reviewing the lessons on the Old Testament and the Life of Christ on January 9th, and then we will begin teaching from the book of Acts.  

• Praise the Lord that the review lessons have corrected so much misunderstanding in the Siawi believers' hearts.
• Pray as Tom and Jason prepare lessons on Acts.

PRAY FOR STRENGTH FOR CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES (December 20, 2007)

Preparing Linda's house for her Christmas visit has been exhausting for Danielle.

• Pray for Danielle to have regain strength.
• Pray that the Siawi believer's celebration of Christ's birth will be honoring to the Lord and a testimony to the unsaved.
• Pray that Linda will be able to do the final comprehension checking of the book of Revelation while she is in the tribe.

LESSON ON THE TABERNACLE PROVIDES A BREAKTHROUGH (December 20, 2007)

As Tom and Jason taught, comparing Christ's perfect sacrifice to the continual sacrifices in the Tabernacle, many of the Siawi believers have finally started to grasp the completeness of the finished work of Christ.

• Praise the Lord that many Siawi people are growing in their faith and learning to apply God’s Word to their lives.
• Pray for us as we try to finish the Chronological Phase Two lessons by the end of the year.

BIBLE TEACHING HAS RESUMED. (September 12, 2007)

Bible teaching has resumed and the Siawi believers are thinking deeply about what they are hearing.

• Praise the Lord that the Siawi believers seem hungry to know the truth.
• Pray for Tom as he teaches the Bible.
• Pray also as he disciples and answers questions about spiritual matters.

REBELLIOUS HEARTS (September 12, 2007)

A group of young men who claim to be believers are prideful and rebellious.

• Please pray that these young men will be convicted of their pride and rebellion.
• Pray that they will not cause problems for those attending the teaching.

TEACHING TO START MONDAY (September 6, 2007)

Tom plans to resume regular Bible teaching on Monday, September 10th.

• Praise the Lord that the Siawi people have a real hunger for teaching.
• Pray for Tom as he presents truth from the Word to them.
• Pray for Tom as he writes lessons for Acts.

HOME SCHOOLING HAS BEGUN (September 6, 2007)

• Pray for Danielle and the boys. Home school has started, and Danielle has her hands full with little Josiah running around taking pencils off desks, etc.

WHOOPING COUGH (September 5, 2007)

• Please pray for the children in the village with Whooping Cough, that they will recover quickly.
• Pray that the disease will not spread through the other children.

CO-WORKERS PREPARE TO MOVE BACK IN (September 5, 2007)

• Pray for the Swansons as they renovate their village house.
• Pray that they will be able to move in and get settled quickly.
• Pray that Jason will soon take some of the load of lesson preparation.

FLYING HOME AFTER A BREAK (August 23, 2007)

Tom and Danielle and boys flew home to Siawi today after several weeks break in Wewak.

• Pray for Danielle to quickly recover from throwing her back out.
• Pray for Levi to get over malaria.
• Pray for co-worker, Jason Swanson, as he is facing lots of work to get his house ready for his family to return to Siawi.

KNOWLEDGE VERSUS BELIEF (July 28, 2007)

As Tom works with some of the Siawi men to prepare Bible lessons, he has opportunity to teach them one-on-one.

• Pray for the Siawis to understand the difference between knowledge and belief.
• Pray for wisdom for Tom as he prepares Bible lessons, and as he answers questions about the Scripture.

LOGISTIC PROBLEMS (July 24, 2007)

Logistic problems slow Tom's progress in Phase 2 lesson preparation.  

• Pray that the logistic problems can be easily worked out.
• Pray that Tom will find the time to work on lessons.

THE NEXT STEP IS TEACHING PHASE 2 (July 23, 2007)

Tom is beginning to work on lessons which focus on how the Old Testament points to the Messiah. In NTM’s teaching program, this is called Phase 2.

• Pray for wisdom as Tom prepares lessons.
• Pray for the Siawi to understand as they hear the truths from God’s Word.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Siawi tribe (July 6, 2007)

Wamese's baby has responded well to the antiobiotics. 

• Praise God that Wamese was faithful to give the baby his medicine while the family was out in the bush.
• Praise God that the baby is so much better.  Keep praying that he will remain strong and healthy.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Siawi tribe (June 29, 2007)

Tiona's testimony reminds us of the Siawi's deep spiritual needs. 

• Praise God that Tiona trusted in the Savior and that he is reading His Bible and learning.
• Pray that other Siawis will understand truths of God’s Word.
• Pray for insight as Tom interacts with the Siawi people on a daily basis.

JOSIAH'S ALLERGIES (June 27, 2007)

Josiah is allergic to milk and eggs.  We are learning good substitutes for those products.

• Praise the Lord that Josiah has not had any more severe allergic reactions, and pray that he doesn't get them again.
• Pray that we can have a consistent supply of soy milk.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Siawi tribe (June 26, 2007)

Several Siawi ladies recently gave birth to baby boys.

• Praise the Lord for leading us to send Kofele out to the hospital where she ended up having an emergency C-section.
• Wamase's baby boy has had a severe infection and is on antibiotics.  Pray that Wamase will not give up on her baby and that she will be faithful to give him his medication.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Siawi tribe (June 23, 2007)

The Siawi people are pondering the Word of God.  They have many questions and are hungry for answers.

• Please pray for us to have wisdom in answering questions.
• Pray that Tom’s language skills would continue to improve so that he can accurately communicate the truth.
• Pray that the believers will hear, understand, and walk in the truth.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Siawi tribe (August 27, 2006)

Please be in prayer.  A cult in some villages from a neighboring language group has gained strength and followers, to the point where they are drawing believers into their massive cauldron. While they claim the name of another mission, whose teachings are sound, they have strayed far from those truths.

Almost all of the Siawi people are planning to go to a conference meeting September 1 and 2, and possibly the 3rd. For those of you in the USA, that will be August 31, and September 1st, since the sun gets to us a long time before it arrives over the USA & Canada.  There are only a few Siawis who are making a stand against this teaching and remaining at home.  Please be praying that the Lord will use this meeting to open the eyes of the ones who are true believers, but just weak in their faith and understanding of the truth. The Holy Spirit can bring conviction of the awfulness of Satan's lies that are being taught.

Pray for those of us still here in Siawi, That the Lord will use this time to allow those who are taking a stand to meet together and be strengthened by one another.  For some, they are having the heartbreak of seeing their families pulled apart. Kwaelom and his wife, Mese, are not in agreement with the cult teaching, but three of their four children are very active in it. Someliae sees the teaching for the lie it is, but his wife, Aiwau, is under the influence of it.
