Last night, Wesiok was hanging around, babysitting his kids while he waited for his wife to come up the trail from where she was working on sago. As we chatted, he began to excitedly tell me that he didn’t feel afraid of sorcery anymore.
He said, “Before, I was a man very truly afraid of sorcery. Today, I am thinking of God’s power. Before, I was truly afraid of ghosts. If I hunted at a pig blind, I went with two other men; but today, I go far away by myself to hunt. I think Jesus is here - that’s why I am able to do it.
“Before, I didn’t understand well. Today, I am a child of heaven. Before, when I was younger, I was a sinful man. I lied to and tricked everybody. They told me I was a liar and stubborn. I was like that, but now I know that is sin. Today, I am happy because Jesus took me from the prison of sin.”
Praise the Lord for the work he has done in Wesiok’s heart.
