Five people from our village have completed the new Village Health Volunteer training program.
Danielle and I flew downriver to witness the graduation, and I am glad we went. The graduates marched in, followed by a traditional dance group. Then, for 2 hours, we listened to speeches by everybody who was important. I even had to make a speech, representing New Tribes Mission for our village.
This Village Health Volunteer program has been an answer to prayer for us. We have been helping to provide for the medical needs of the people, and our desire is for that to continue even when we are not present.
Two of the Government Aid Post Orderlies from the surrounding area attended the graduation. They expressed their support of the graduates and promised to work with them in the months and years to come, not only to provide further training but also to assist in providing medicine for them. This is also an answer to prayer.
Praise the Lord for the Village Heath Volunteer training program, and for those from our village who graduated.
Praise the Lord for how the Government Aid Post Orderlies will stand behind the graduates.
Pray for wisdom for the three men, Mabou, Wesiok and Kolin, as they will be the primary medical providers in the Siawi village.
Pray for Abo and Kofele, as they have received training to be midwives for the village.
In the midst of all the going and coming and shaking hundreds of hands, Danielle has picked up a bug and is now running a fever and has a sore throat.
Pray that Danielle will recover quickly, and for me as I hold down the fort for her.
