Can you imagine arriving in a tribal area where no outsider has learned the culture or language of that people group?  The language is not written down in a textbook for you to learn.  There is nothing in writing to warn you of cultural blunders to avoid. How do you go about developing relationships or learning the culture and language in a situation like this?

At the NTM Missionary Training Center, we are privileged to be a part of training missionary candidates to go to remote people groups, build relationships with the people, learn their culture and language, and teach them God's Word in order to establish reproducible indigenous churches.  Missionary Candidates preparing for support ministries (teachers, pilots, nurses, accountants, etc), whose ministries are vital to keeping other missionaries in the tribes, also come through part of the training program to prepare for their ministries overseas.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve God in this way, and excited to see many young couples and singles coming into the NTM training to prepare for tribal church planting work and related support ministries.  For an example of how God is using some of the missionaries candidates we have been blessed to know during our 5 years at the Missionary Training Center, go to www.geocities.com/scottnjenniephillips

The Mamusi Tribe of Papua New GuineaGod allowed us to have a part in taking His Word to this people group, where He has now raised up churches in 7 Mamusi villages.  We continue to be involved in revising Bible Lessons for the Mamusi Bible Teachers to use in reaching out to new villages and in teaching and discipling the believers.
