The computer is a valuable language study tool for every missionary and Andrew Ferguson is using his computer to help him learn the Southern Tepehaun language.
Andrew and his wife Anne Marie traveled to the city for consultant and strategy meetings on how to reach the Tepehuan people with the Gospel.
While there, Andrew worked on some of the basic programs needed in the Tepehuan language -- the Tepehuan dictionary and verb chart.
One of the major difficulties they've had with learning the language is using all the different Tepehuan verbs and the letters that are attached to them. Each group of letters or affix changes the verb. Putting all the verbs into a chart with their affixes helped Andrew and Anne Marie understand how to use the verbs.
Have you ever wondered how you can write an explanation of the grammar of a language that has never been written? That is just one of the many steps needed to learn the language.
Andrew and Anne Marie are using every moment of time wherever they are to become fluent in the Tepehuan culture and language so that they can teach the evangelistic Bible lessons to the people.
Pray for Andrew and Anne Marie to stay encouraged as they learn the difficult Tepehuan language. Pray also that God will prepare the hearts of the Tepehuan people to trust Christ when they hear the Gospel message.
