Think about this. Do you or someone you know ever get tired, dizzy or even a little nauseous when you’re reading and the only way to get rid of the feeling is to take a break and walk around? Maybe the words jump around on the page or are blurry or maybe the words just disappear altogether. Do you have handwriting that other people can’t decipher. Have you never been able to balance on one foot very well? Have stairs always been a challenge to you? Maybe you’re a person who does Mathematics or solves problems in your head but you just can’t seem to explain to someone else or be able to write down on paper how you got the answer. Maybe the simple task of catching a ball isn’t so simple. If you or someone you know has struggled with some or all of the above think about this. How well can you imagine? Can you imagine a piece of your favorite cake in your hand (probably on a plate, or not) and imagine it like it was really there? Can you, in your mind, shift your imagination around the cake at the top, bottom, back, under, over the cake? Have you ever stopped to consider that your awesome talent of shifting your imagination is actually connected with your inability to read, write, balance or the other things mentioned above? Being able to shift your imagination or being able to move around in your imagination is not something that everyone can do; it is truly a gift. Jenn and I are currently working with these type of talented children and adults who have difficulty in learning because of the before mentioned things. |
