LEARNING AND TEACHING AND LEARNING

Expand the reach of the gospel by teaching missionary children.

August 29, 2008

by Dena McMaster

School started August 13 at Grace International School in Thailand and newly arrived missionary teacher Becky Smith is teaching and learning at the same time.

Becky arrived a week before school started and attended a staff meeting that day. She managed to settle into her new home, meet the other teachers in the area and begin acquainting herself with Thai culture and language, all before school started.

Becky teaches two World History courses and one US History class. "It has been very interesting teaching the world history class," wrote Becky, "because almost every country I have taught about a student has actually visited or lived there for an extended period. It is nice to have their input."

Right now Becky's lesson plans are prepared just a couple of days ahead of her students. She wrote, "It is exhausting but I love being in the classroom. Grace is such a unique place."
