BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

Chad and Chris are staying in PNG to help missionaries in another tribal village.

August 20, 2008

by Dena McMaster

Missionaries Mark and Holly Woodard had some very special visitors to their home in the Bagwido village in Papua New Guinea where they serve. Holly's two brothers, Chad and Chris Earl, came to help with needed projects.

They finished a huge amount of maintenance and also built a permanent first-aid clinic that will serve five villages in the surrounding area. They were willing to do anything that was needed from reading bedtime stories to the Woodard children, to washing dishes, or carrying heavy logs up the mountain. The clinic they built will provide help for the Bagwidos for many years to come. They were a great blessing to the missionaries and their Bagwido friends.

The brothers were ready to return to the USA but two missionary families who are beginning a church planting ministry in a near-by tribe are ready to build their homes. Chad and Chris want to stay and help them for two or three months. Since they brought only enough money to stay for a few weeks they are looking to the Lord to provide their needs during their extended stay.

As Chad and Chris were about to board the plane to fly out of the tribe, a Bagwido believer put his hands on their shoulders and began praying for them.

"He was again praying to his Great Creator Being thanking Him for bringing these boys to the jungle to help us," wrote Mark. "Asking Him to give these big strong boys good wives so they could come back and help us in this work."

"Wow, now the tables are turning. God is using these [Bagwidos] to teach us and encourage us as we work alongside them. It just doesn't get any better than that."

Pray for Chad and Chris as they trust God to provide for their time helping in another tribal village. Pray also for the Woodards and the Bagwido believers as they encourage one another in the Lord.
