Amado wasn't too interested in learning about God. He thought he had more important things to do.
Missionary Dennis Bender was in the second week of teaching evangelistic Bible lessons in Amado's Guarijio village in Mexico when Amado decided to skip the lesson and walk to a another village to get some poisonous weed killer for his fields.
He put the poison in his bag and started home.
Without realizing the danger, he had placed the poison in the same bag as his food. When Amado ate his lunch, he became violently sick.
His wife hurried to the missionaries' door the next morning. Amado was close to death and needed immediate medical help.
Dennis took him to a clinic one and a half hours away to get help. By the end of the day Amado was recovering.
Dennis' quick action and the right medicine kept Amado from death.
Amado has a second chance at life, and he isn't wasting it.
"Ever since he has never missed a week of the teaching," Dennis wrote. Not only that, he is attentive, understanding, and sees himself as a sinner in need of a Savior. He has yet to learn who that Savior is! Keep praying."
Pray for open hearts and minds for Amado and the other Guarijio people as they hear God's Word. Pray for Dennis as he continues to teach and prepare the evangelistic Bible lessons.
