Although the light of God's Word has broken through into many Tarahumara lives, there is still a battle going on for the souls of men and women.
"There is an ever evil darkness felt here daily," wrote missionaries Tony and Lauren Finch.
Just a few hundred feet down the hill from the Finch's house, a small group of Tarahumara Indians were sacrificing a cow.
"It is their belief that God is asking this of them in order for Him to send rain," wrote Tony. "They will cook the meat all night and then tomorrow offer it up to him to eat."
The Tarahumaras were doing this "because of an appearance of God to a man in a community about 60 miles from here," wrote Tony. "Word had reached our area and the faithful are responding."
"Please pray with us," wrote Tony, "that God, the true and only God, will cause His truth to prevail here in their hearts."
