The other day I was in a hurry...
So what's so unusual about that you may ask. Well, I would answer,"Nothing", then I would laugh and tell you that what followed was the unusual part.
I had gone shopping with Nathaniel and was rushing home to make cupcakes for Benjamin's teacher's birthday. I thought it might be easier on me if I could buy some paper muffin cups to help me get the job done quicker. So I did a U-turn and pulled up to a 'dulceria' (candy store) thinking that since they have birthday party supplies they might have paper baking cups.
Nathaniel and I went in and looked around. Seeing no muffin cups I waited for the clerk to come back in. When she came in I asked her if she had the cups for sale. She didn't but we discussed where they might be found. All the time I was thinking "I don't have time to run over there now. I'll have to use non-stick spray."
Then the clerk asked me how long I had been in Mexico. I told her one year and that we had spent two years in Venezuela before that. So that explained why my ability to communicate with her was beyond basic level.
So far nothing unusual about anything that had been said yet...
But then after I told her we live here because we are Christian missionaries, she started crying. Hence the unusual part, people don't usually cry when I tell them who we are.
She is a believer and was so touched by knowing what we are about that she cried and I cried too. We had a wonderful time of sharing about Jesus and glorifying God. We both agreed that we are in love with Jesus. And we both went away blessed.
Before I left she lent me a CD in Spanish by Jesus Adrian Romero titled 'el aire de tu casa'.
The title being translated is 'the air of your house'. It refers to the smells we associate with our childhood homes and the homes we live in now. Those fragrances can bring comfort, joy and peace. The singer wants to be so close to God that he can breathe Him.
That's how I want to be, I want to breathe the air of God's house, the fragrance of God.
Oh, and I got the cupcakes baked and frosted in time! |
