The When
(Nov 11, 2008)
We realize our life is a little confusing. It's confusing for us too! We're taking this entire news article just to lay out the next few years clearly, so you'll know where we'll be and when we plan to head to Cambodia.
It's Official
(Nov 8, 2008)
Well, if you didn't know it already, now you do. Ric and Sharon Bruce are officially heading to Cambodia. We've never made our excitement and commitment clear on our website until now.
A Taste of Translation
(Nov 5, 2008)
Sharon presents the latest statistics in Bible translation. One of our current classes is Semantics and Translation, a course designed to expose us to the basics of translating the Bible. Read Sharon's article to get a taste of translation!
Sharon's Big Day
(Nov 2, 2008)
Sharon participated in Springfield's second annual Fitness Festival hosted by Bass Pro Shops. It was a lot of fun and she had a fantastic time! 27:10 for 3.1 miles. Great job Sharon!
Fall Colors
(Oct 28, 2008)
The fall colors here in Missouri can be breathtaking with the right light. As the season changes Sharon and I are reminded of God's handiwork in creation and inspired to redeem the time... in a few short years we'll be in Cambodia learning language and culture!
Fall Hayride
(Oct 27, 2008)
It's fall, so we had to go on a hayride! The country baptist church we attend in Elderidge, MO loaded 60 people up on trailers full of hay and took us out to a farmer's field where I gave a devotional and we ate hotdogs!
Staying Sharp
(Oct 24, 2008)
Our simple living class is over, but the lessons we learned won't sink in unless we begin to practice simple, practical living now. Tantamount to our success in spiritual life, too, is to simplify and stay sharp!
Where There Is No Barber
(Oct 23, 2008)
What if you couldn't just go down the street to the Salon and get your hair cut? Pretty scary thought. You may look pretty hairy in a few months. Well, today we learned some tips about coping with that very thing.
Simple Building
(Oct 22, 2008)
Today gifted teacher and experienced builder Norm Chenier shared his experience with us at the MTC. He showed us how to build without the use of power tools!!! Amazing stuff.
Simple Cooking
(Oct 21, 2008)
We gained a new perspective this week on what it really means to cook from scratch. This week we're cooking with no mixes, no microwaves, and no canned food. Easier said than done.
Simple Camping
(Oct 20, 2008)
This weekend's camping trip went off without a hitch! We're praising the Lord for safety and for getting some good sleep despite the cold. Check out this article to see what we learned and see some pictures we took.
Shared Experience
(Oct 16, 2008)
The only worthwhile experiences are shared ones, that's our motto. As part of our practical skills class we were able to share with our classmates some hiking gear we own and some mistakes we made on our life-changing trip through the Appalachian Mountains.
Simple Life
(Oct 13, 2008)
"The journey is the destination." Life is all about what the journey looks like and a lot of times we can get set in our ways about how we think the journey should look. This week may help break us of that.
Football Frenzy
(Oct 12, 2008)
I snapped a few pictures at an intramural football game we had and thought some of the pictures were worth sharing with all of you. Check out our picasa web albums for more pictures!
Big Changes
(Oct 9, 2008)
This semester Sharon and I both switched work details. You may remember Sharon's article last semester about working in the Tech Center. In this article we fill you in about our new jobs...
Asking Questions
(Oct 6, 2008)
Cambodia's young people are starting to notice something odd at their traditional festival for the dead: the food never goes anywhere. As they begin to question traditional beliefs, a door is opened to the gospel.
Our Shrinking World
(Oct 3, 2008)
The world's not getting smaller. Technology is just getting better. Today's missionaries have a unique advantage over those sent out just a few years ago: the team of people praying for and encouraging them can go too!
Spreading the Word
(Sep 30, 2008)
Today we spread the word about Cambodia during chapel. We shared what happened on our trip to Cambodia with our group. Here are some pictures and information about what we did. (Thanks for the pics Micah)
Early Morning Swim
(Sep 27, 2008)
This morning Micah, Tom, and I went swimming. At 6:30 AM. We swung from the rope swing this morning and took our shower in the lake. Some of the pictures we took were worth sharing. Here they are.
Day at the Zoo
(Sep 21, 2008)
St. Louis has an awesome free zoo. We had the chance to go see it this afternoon and thought we'd pass on our strong advice to go see it and some pictures we took while we were there.
