Mike and Nadine Gleaves served as missionaries in Colombia for 20 years. Their missionary experience began by living in a house on stilts in the middle of a jungle lake, seeking to make first contact with a tribe famous for their poisoned darts! The Gleaves helped make that contact and establish relationships. The poisoned darts were eventually set aside so that the process of language learning and Bible teaching could begin. The Gleaves later served as dorm parents for missionary children and then in field administration and leadership.
Mike and Nadine's broad range of experience helps make their current ministry as representatives for New Tribes Mission effective. Mike particularly enjoys speaking to young people and college-age students, challenging them with the opportunities that exist for them in cross-culture communication of the Gospel to tribal people around the world.
