Cal and Gwen Taylor have served the Lord in NTM since 1970. Most of those years were spent in Brazil, where they have always been involved in some type of teaching ministry at the Bible Institute and the Missions Institute for training Brazilians.

For 11 years they taught at a school for missionary children. During that time, they were extensively involved in the publication of the chronological Bible teaching series into Portuguese.

Cal and Gwen are the parents of four children with one still at home. They love to share with others the importance of teaching the Word of God chronologically in the USA and overseas.

Ken and Cindy West began serving in Indonesia in 1978. After learning the Indonesian language, they ministered in the Da’an Tribe of West Kalimantan (Borneo) for six years. The Lord gave the Wests, along with their missionary team, the privilege of sharing Christ with these precious people who had never heard of Him.

Moving into Indonesian field leadership, Ken and Cindy lived in several locations from 1986 until 1999, serving full-time on the field leadership committee and administrative team. This involved mission administration, coordination of tribal teams and representation to national mission board members. Along with this they ministered in several additional areas: small group Bible studies with international groups, in an International church, and in personal discipleship.

In 1998 the Wests helped establish an NTM presence in the Indonesian province of Irian Jaya (Papua), preparing a foundation and giving guidance to the new NTM families who began ministries in this isolated region. From there they moved to Pennsylvania, where they spent four years training new missionary candidates. Recently, Ken and Cindy have become Southeast Regional Representatives for NTM. They also continue to be involved in an itinerant ministry to Indonesia. Ken and Cindy have two grown daughters, Liz and Anna.

Natives of South Carolina, Ted and Jean Wright became Christians while Ted was serving in the US Air Force. Four years later, their faith helped sustain both of them during the year Ted spent serving in Vietnam.  Later, they were stationed in Rome, New York, where he and Jean served in the local church which later became their first pastorate.

In 1969, the Wrights felt God was leading them to foreign missions. They completed missions training with New Tribes Mission and returned to South Carolina to wait for their visas to Brazil, South America. While they waited, Ted worked at the Richland Memorial Hospital as mechanical engineering supervisor and both helped plant Columbia Christian Fellowship Church. On July 18, 1974, Ted and Jean left for Brazil with their two children, Thomas and Roslyn.

Brazil became home for the next 25 years, as they shouldered a variety of responsibilities. They began as dorm parents for missionary children and then taught in the school. They planted the Vianópolis Bible Church with sole responsibility for all the teaching and leadership until the Lord provided leaders from among the members of the church. (That church continues, and has grown in numbers as well as mission vision, sending out its own people to the mission field and into full-time ministries.)

The Wrights were asked to take on the responsibility of challenging Brazilian Christians for the work of missions. This meant spending many months on the road, but resulted in Brazilian missionaries who are now working shoulder-to-shoulder with expatriate missionaries in Brazil and around the world.

During their 25 years as overseas missionaries, the Wrights became acutely aware of the lack of African American participation in foreign missions. God burdened their hearts to help African Americans see their responsibility to become more actively involved in world missions. When Jean’s failing health required that they return to the USA, the door was opened to focus on this new ministry.

The Wrights live in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Their children have graduated, Thomas from LaTourneau College and Roslyn, from Columbia Bible College, and are now living on their own.

Ted travels and ministers in church relations for New Tribes Mission with a special focus of challenging African Americans. Effective communicators in Portuguese and English, Ted and Jean also minister to the Brazilian population of South Carolina. In addition, Ted leads groups on short-term mission trips to broaden their vision for missions.
