Mike grew up in the Pacific Northwest, moving between Washington and Oregon as his parents served in the pastorate. During summer camp at age 10, Mike dedicated his life to serve the Lord as a missionary with New Tribes Mission. He met his wife, Gwen, at a Bible college in Canada. Her parents had pastored in the three western provinces of Canada as she grew up, and at the age of 14, she had dedicated her life to the Lord for missionary service as well.
God led Mike and Gwen and their four children to Bolivia where they served for 15 years in a variety of ministries, including a mission boarding school, a remote tribal village, and the NTM field offices in Cochabamba.
In 1996 Mike and Gwen began serving as representatives with NTM in the Northwest. Mike travels and speaks in area conferences, churches, camps and colleges, challenging people, young and old, with the opportunities for being involved in missions. His presentations include stories and videos from various mission fields, as well as the chronological teaching materials developed and used by NTM around the world.
One of their daughters is serving as a missionary in Italy, and their other three children are living in Spokane, Washington, trusting God for His direction in future ministry.
