In the process of challenging others to tribal evangelism, Thom and Carolyn challenged themselves!
Originally from Maryland and Massachusetts, Thom and Carolyn Cunningham served in evangelism, discipleship and church planting for 23 years in Austria, England and Scotland. Endeavoring to challenge university students in Scotland into missions, Thom and Carolyn found themselves challenged to become personally involved in reaching tribal peoples who have never heard the Gospel.
The Cunninghams joined New Tribes Mission in 1995 and after a year of additional training began teaching in Papua New Guinea at NTM’s Interface program, an onsite, college-level missions course. Later, NTM asked them to teach at the NTM Bible and Missionary Training Center for Europe and also serve as NTM Representatives throughout England, Scotland, and Germany. In addition, they led UK short-term mission teams to various countries.
Thom specializes in partnering with local churches through teaching seminars – “Each One REACH One – Each One TEACH One” (personal evangelism and one-on-one discipleship) and “Opening the Scriptures” (an introduction to the chronological approach to evangelism and discipling). Thom and Carolyn’s burden and passion is to assist churches in mobilizing believers to make disciples both at home and to the ends of the earth.
The Cunninghams are now serving as NTM representatives in New England. They enjoy speaking in conferences, churches, camps and colleges, challenging both young and old to be actively involved in missions, as well as in outreach at home. Thom‘s presentations and seminars are illustrated with fast-moving Power Points, visuals and videos which communicate Christ’s mandate clearly to all ages.
