Prior to taking their stateside role as Mid-Atlantic representatives
for NTM, Dave and Joyce served 16 years with NTM in Papua New Guinea.
They began their field ministry in the Pawaia tribe on mainland New Guinea,
then moved to the island of West New Britain to reach the isolated Loko
tribe. Deteriorating health forced them to leave this area.
In later years
Dave supervised the graphics division of the mission publications team,
as well as offering assistance through practical helps to outlying tribal
areas with his building skills. He also assisted in training national
believers for ministry, taught Bible classes in a government school, and
taught journalism at the MK boarding school.
Apart from their tribal ministry,
Joyce served the field in bookkeeping and as a proofreader and typesetter
for the publications team. She conducted classes in domestic care for
national women and developed a local ladies outreach ministry through
Bible study. Joyce also assisted in teaching classes at the boarding school,
giving private music instruction, and ministering to co-workers through
her gift of hospitality. Together, Dave and Joyce worked as class advisors
to high schoolers in the boarding school.
Before the Hilts began formal
training with New Tribes Mission in 1981, they served in local church
ministries in south-central Pennsylvania. Beginning in youth work, they
shifted their focus to Bible teaching among young married couples, and
eventually developed a home-discipleship/evangelism outreach in their
community.
Dave and Joyce were married in 1974. They have one daughter,
Jennifer (now married), who grew up on the mission field. She resides
with her husband, a young evangelist, in South Carolina. The Hilts are
available for children's meetings, sharing missions in camps, in small-group
settings and home meetings, on college campuses, and by participating
in mission conferences in local churches. They also lead work teams abroad.
Their passion is to see the Lord raise up those who will go to the ends
of the earth in planting tribal churches among the nations. Dave and Joyce
bring with them a fresh focus on missions, often using drama and other
visual means to stimulate a greater interest in missions. They reside
in York, Pennsylvania. |

John, a former Maryland state trooper, and his wife, Barbara, began their ministry with NTM in Senegal in 1979. After serving two years as dorm parents for the teens at the school for missionary children, the Warnkens studied French and then moved to the “bush” area of southwest Senegal. There they helped start a church-planting ministry among the Bainouk people. John had the privilege of baptizing the first two Bainouk believers.
In addition to teaching and discipling believers, they also directed and taught the Bainouk literacy course. During their 24 years in Senegal, John also served as a field leader.
Health issues required that the Warnkens return to the USA, but their passion for tribal evangelism continues. They now work in church relations, serving churches in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.
John and Barbara bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their ministry of informing Christians about missions and missionary opportunities. They challenge people as they travel and speak in area conferences, churches and schools. John’s presentations include stories and videos from various mission fields. They enjoy sharing with any group about missions and their work among the Bainouks.
The Warnkens have two children, Lee, a police officer in Utah, and Laurie Fyock, who serves with her husband, Tim, with NTM in Venezuela.

Greg and Dawn began their ministry with NTM in Venezuela in 1977. After
studying Spanish and serving as dorm parents for a year, they began their
ministry with the Yanomamo tribe.
The Yanomano people live deep in the
Amazon Territory with little or no contact with the outside world. After
learning the Yanomamos' language, the Sanfords carried on a church planting ministry
for 12 years.
Since 1991, Greg has served as an NTM representative and
conference speaker, sharing many of the couple's experience among the Yanomamo
people. Along with his representation responsibilities,
Greg serves as US Director of Mobilization. Greg has also traveled in the USA and other parts of the world, giving seminars on the NTM's Chronological Teaching Program to other mission organizations and Bible colleges.
The Sanfords have two daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren.
Their oldest daughter Tammy and her husband Jamie are with NTM serving in South America, making her a third generation missionary. Their son
Lane, also a third generation missionary, and his wife Karrie are serving with NTM in Papua New Guinea. Their youngest daughter Wendy, with her husband Ben, continue in training at Moody Bible Institute.
