MEXICO (Guarijio tribe)

A check of the first 15 chapters of Acts in the Guarijio language went very well. The book of Acts will be the first book of the Bible translated into the Guarijio language. Terry Reed's translation co-worker, Vicente, is a Guarijio man who is fluent in Spanish and has been a tremendous help with the work. Pray for Terry and Vicente as they continue to work through Acts.

PHILIPPINES (Palawano tribe)

Tatak and his mother were finally able to return to their village after weeks in the city so Tatak could get medical care. Pray that the family and other Palawanos will see God's love in this experience, even before they have heard about it.

A Moi man who attempted to kill his newborn daughter acknowledged his wrong and told missionaries how God convicted him. The child is now back with her parents. Please pray that the parents will raise the child in a godly home and that the family will glorify God.

The initiation ceremonies for Pai boys are complete and the visitors have returned to their homes, taking a lot of pressure and temptation off believing Pai families. Thank you for praying.

A Manobo Bible teacher and his wife- Mahan and Arsisa- are moving to a Manobo village to begin evangelistic Bible lessons. Please pray that the Manobo people will be very attentive to God's Word.

PANAMA (Embera tribe)

Missionary Doug Schermerhorn and his Embera co-workers were able to finish the final revision of Genesis during the month of April. "Even the poorer readers were able to read it well with comprehension," Doug wrote. The team is now revising Exodus and wants to finish it before July. Please pray that the team can meet their desired deadline and produce another clear translation.

Praise God that a work team from the USA made it safely across 80 miles of rough water to the island where they will help build houses for the missionaries. Pray that they will accomplish much this week and that the seas will be calm for the return trip so they can make their scheduled departure time.

BRAZIL

A representative group of cross-cultural mission agencies was successful in activating congressmen to contact the head of the presidential offices regarding legislation that would limit access to tribal areas. The legislation has been sent back to the Ministry of Justice for revision and a decision was made to get input from the mission groups before revising the bill. Please continue praying that God will keep access to the tribes open.

God has answered prayer for Don and Pat Barger. The couple appealed the visa process after being told they needed further documentation and they have now been informed that one-year visas have been issued. The Bargers plan to pick them up next week.

Doctors are encouraged that Ian Turnbull, the 12-year-old son of missionaries Ken and Lisa Turnbull, will recover from a bout with cerebral malaria that affected his kidneys. Please pray for Ian and the family as they wait out what could be a long recovery.

Andreas and Angelika Totz are thankful for your prayers in regard to the death of a chief last month. The Culinas were blaming a local merchant, but since there was no evidence he was responsible, things have settled down. The couple thinks they have made strengthened relationships among the Culinas through this difficulty.

Brooke Tartaglia, who was airlifted to Australia for emergency surgery, is now healing "nicely and quickly." Brooke underwent surgery after doctors confirmed a tubal pregnancy where the tube burst completely. "Emotionally it continues to be up and down for us," wrote Joey Tartaglia. Please pray for Brooke's complete healing and for the Tartaglias to find emotional stability in the Lord.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Tobo tribe)

Kips, a Tobo believer in Papua New Guinea, has been known to be a fighter. One of Kips' relatives was said to be coming to the village and cause trouble with him. Other believers encouraged Kips to not fight, and he said "in my heart I forgave him, and decided that I was not going to fight him, even if he came and called me out."

Kips' relative did not come. Instead, a group of men came and told Kips what the man recently said. "We sat down and talked about what we would do to you; but instead of deciding to fight, your relative said he forgave you, and that if he were to ever come to [the village], that the two of you would shake hands and kiss (a sign of affection and total agreement)."

Thank the Lord with us as we see young believers putting their faith into action.

Seven Paraguayan young people that spent ten days among the Pai Tavy Tera people learned that culture and language study is imperative to successfully plant a church among a remote people group. Jesse Schuring, who was hospitalized after being bitten by a snake, was released from the hospital on Thursday. He is still taking an antibiotic and must keep his foot elevated. Thank you for praying for his recovery. Continue to pray for complete healing with no side affects.

On Thursday union officials retracted their call for a nation wide strike, suspending the strike for three months. In the coming months union leaders will meet with government officials to discuss the issues of concern. Please pray for wisdom for those in negotiations, that the situation can be settled peaceably, and that missionaries can continue their work unhindered.
