Purpose:

YOU CAN BE PART OF THE CHURCH PLANTING TEAM by helping to educate the children of missionaries as a librarian. This allows missionaries to minister in remote locations where their children's educational and social needs cannot always be met.

Responsibilities:

The high school library is an educational resource center. The library meets the needs of staff and students and should support the high school literature-centered curriculum. The library is heavily used by missionaries.

Responsibilities for the librarian would include: Maintain the library in areas of book acquisition, cataloging, processing, circulation, book requests and repairs. Provide instruction and guidance regarding library equipment. Oversee teacher's aide and student work detail crew. Decorate the library.

REQUIREMENTS

Degree:

Bachelor

Skills:

- A degree in Library Science or equivalent is needed.
- Ability to use/manage a computerized database/cataloguing/check-out system
- Good organizational and communications skills
- Ability to manage/assist student groups using the library
- Understanding of basic reference and research tools and resources

This ministry is located at the field headquarters which has a community of over 250 people. Located in the mountains of Papua New Guinea with an elevation of over 5,000 feet, the climate is spring-like year round. Many ministries are located at this center; including the school for missionary children, flight program, medical and dental clinics and other support ministries.
